Who was your first ISP?

Ah the good ol' days of free 0800s. Do you guys remember the one that was pretty reliable but cut you off after 20mins. I think it may have been pipex than ran it.

AOL (don't laugh, there were very few alternatives back then!) and then after getting kicked off I went to "Global Internet". Not longer after that FRIACO started getting going and Claranet released their "Free Weekend" deal. Then FRIACO went 24/7 and Freeserve were one of the best at the time for 24/7 dialup.

In between all that I was dabbling with hacked RedHotAnt and screaming.net accounts :o

My first was Global internet think you had to pay a subscription plus the usualy telephone rate, didn't use it a great deal though back then.

Hi,

Just a quick poll (i'm bored). Who was your first ISP and are they still around?

My first ISP was called Direct Connection (dircon.co.uk) and I don't think they are still around. there was no subscription (paid only for the phone calls) and I got a free 33k modem.
Same here!
we paid 12.99 I think for a month.

I remember this
