Rubi so far is running the day to day coaching and Barça have said the new coach is expected early next week.

Rubi is still favourite, or so it looks, but only on the basis that they are expected to promote from within the club again. For the same reason Jordi Roura, Barcelona's assistant coach and former caretaker is in the running too.

The only other people I've heard being touted as favourites are, mainly, Villas-Boas, Mancini and Michael Laudrup.

Other managers in the mix could be:
Marcelo Bielsa: Been in charge of Athletic Bilbao since 2011 until his contract expired at the end of the 2012/13 season. Also spent 4 years as the Chilean national coach and 4 years as the Argentine national coach before that.

Luis Enrique: for some reason I have seen his name thrown in to the mix on Spanish radio but I'm sure Celta would expect a massive payout from Barcelona to get him out of a contract he only signed last month. So a very unlikely name but never say never... I can never see it happening though ;) .

Jürgen Klopp: doing a good job a Dortmund.

Pepe Mel: Another outside choice but is becoming very highly regarded by Spanish fans and pundits, got Real Betis promoted back to La Liga in his 1st season, back in 2010/11 and has managed to get them back up to 7th place and European football after just 2 seasons of being back in the top flight.

Frank De Boer: Massive long shot here, but could be worth a punt if Barca are willing to take the risk, still very respected by the fans and has done a very good job with Ajax winning the league 3 times out of the 3 seasons he has spent there.

... anyone else??

Ignoring those already mentioned I'd throw Juup Henykes into the mix:

-Champions league winner with multiple clubs and current reigning champion
-Reasonably record winning trophies etc
-Experience of managing a top Spanish club and presumably speaks the lingo a bit
-Currently unemployed so no faffing about trying to get him released from another club

Age may count against him though as Barca seem to have been going with younger managers of late.

He has said that he has no intention of ever coaching again... so I'd imagine there would be a lot of faffing around.
