Who do you think will replace Jackie Chan Jet Li in the Kung Fu action scene?

Both have gotten older and neither have made a good movie in years.

Donnie looks like he's also "getting on a bit" but apart from the guy who played stormshadow in the GI Joe films and tbe guys from The Raid I don't know of many other sub 30yo martial art stars.

I doubt anyone could replace jackie chan or jet li both legends in the game.

Tony jarr is the first person that comes to mind, still at 40 so can do much of the stuff but no where on the level as his first few films. Donnie yen is also 52 so can't do too much of the stuff he looked slow and old in ipman 3 or maybe they just speeded up pensioner mike tyson's hands and yens own movements for film.

Iko Uwais did an amazing job and is still young so has plenty of time and only 33.

So really its hard to say no ones really going to come close to the amount of films or work as jet and chan.

KUng FU or martial arts generally.

If latter, DOnnie Yen? I haven't watched his movies in full yet, but they are on my to-watch list. He will star in Rogue One this year. I don't think he does the comedy side though.

martial arts generally but from Asia(China, korea, ext) like jackie and jet I know no one will have the same style as jackie.

Donnie Yen is good but he's about the same age

I use to think Tony Jaa when ong back first came out but since think I think his martial arts are good but he cant act and ong bak made hi too big headed.

You right Donnie yen is too old,

Iko Uwais is good if he get used correctly

I want to see one more huge western hit from Jackie chan, something like his older movies, we will not see anything like his comedy style in a long time and he is mostly making movies aimed towards china

The first time I saw Ong Bak and Warrior King I thought we'd found the "new" martial arts star for the '00's onwards in Tony Jaa but making Ong Bak 2/3 seemed to mentally break him.

Usually when I watch any MA film you can see the punches/kicks etc are pulled to prevent injury etc but Tony Jaa's first few films looked like it was full contact and you could "feel" the power his kicks/knees/elbows etc were delivering.

JC / JL pretty much defined the genre in English speaking films so they won't really be replaced. Their early films really stood out amongst their peers for fighting. The 80's and 90's still saw lots of basic fist fights or poorly corographed action. Most modern films have decent fight scenes with mixed fighting styles in so the need for the big personality JC/JL types is all but gone.

I would say the demand and opportunity for a back to basics no CGI/no wires/own stunts martial arts fighter which will impress audiences has gone.

Ong bak etc has a limited audience these days sadly.

Yup was about to say the same its sadly easier to do CGI and wire-fu rather then full contact martial art films, think those days are gone.

I did read ong back 2,3 tony jarr literally broke down and walked off the set into the forest, never actually came back until a year or so. He also went to pray at a temple and retire after that.

Total head case should leave the directing and all the other work to others, any jackie chan or jet li fan will see they were the true pioneers in the genre, apart from the 100s of films they did everything was there own stunts most of the time, I think jackie chan performed half his films with a footcast with a shoe drawn on it :)

The problem with Tony Jaa is that he can't act. Jackie Chan and Jet Li have a more then enough to get by but Tony Jaa is a terrible actor with a squeaky voice. He was never destined for the global success that Chan and Li shared. IMO Jackie Chan will never be surpassed, he's one of a kind.

I agree 100% Im already missing his old movies (real jackie chan movies)

Tony Jaa was in the last Fast and Furious movie. Even though he wasn't really a leading part, he was relatively decent in it I thought.

Other than the Ong Bak series I haven't seen him in anything else.

The guys from the Raid were in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and I believe they are also going to be in the Rogue One film as well.

Even if they were for brief cameo type roles.
