Imagine this:

A 10 year old boy is forced to hold a gun to a helpless man's head who is in tears for his life. The boy is then forced to pull the trigger at point blank range, killing the man.

Who would you rather be?

The 10 year old boy doing the killing, or the man being killed?

...And why?

...Would it be different if the 10 year old boy was the same age as the man being killed?

The 10 year old boy doing the killing. Because there'd be a chance that i'd get over it and lead a normal life. Plus I wouldn't die.

Why the hell would you want to be the helpless man being killed, :p

If I was the 10 year old I could always reassure myself that I was made to do it,
so no guilt but mebbe slightly scarred for life :o

But yeah I'd be the 10 year old. :)

Nope. The underlying basis of this question is basically asking "Do you want to die right now or live?"

I'd assume you'd want to be the helpless man being killed, so that you wouldnt have to go through the life that the 10 year old would leave, which most likely wouldnt be great at all, due to as stated before, it wouldnt be something that would ever leave you. If not driving you to suicide at a later date anyways...People have done it for much less thats for sure

True, but at least you'd know it wasn't out of choice. That might provide some comfort.
 
I'd rather be alive and screwed up in the head than just plain dead.

It might make a difference if the man was very old though. If he's already lived a full life and got everything he wanted out of it, maybe he would be the better choice.

Yeah go watch season 3 of Lost now, you got a lot of catching up to do.

Bit of a stupid question because by being the helpless man your actually being more selfish, the boy has to live with the trauma anyway so it might as well be you.
