Who would you rather face in the playoffs?

I'm a Palace fan, and as much as I hate to admit it, I think automatic promotion is just beyond our reach now. But having said that when we were promoted 2 years ago reaching the playoffs was even less likely at this stage. But barring another Dowie miracle I think the only route back is another trip to Cardiff.

When it comes to the playoffs, its rarely the 3rd placed team who go up. And quite often, like with us in 2004 and West Ham last year, its a team who scrape into the playoffs with a good finish to the season who have the momentum to win the extra 3 matches to take them up.

I was just wondering what the opinions are of other fans of clubs in the mix. Who would you rather not face in the semis? and who do you think might make that late run for 6th place?

My personal opinion is that we will finish fourth and play Watford who finish 5th in the semis. I think the crucial game for the 6th spot is Wolves v Preston, but I think Preston will make their lead tell even though they have the much tougher run in.

Palace will beat Watford again and I think Preston have the fight to overcome Leeds. This will mean Palace and Preston's 5th meeting of the year will be in Cardiff, and hopefully Palace come through.

But thats just my guess.
What do you reckon?

Looks like 2nd place is out of the reach of Leeds now, though we've still got hope.

I'd prefer to play Preston then Palace. Don't want to meet Watford, they've got half our ex-players and are the second strongest team on paper after Leeds.

Leeds vs Watford would be the final i envisage. Preston just dont have that cutting edge, and for some reason I cant see palace being able to beat either watford or leeds.

As far as wolves are concerned, we dont deserve to be in the playoffs, and if we do get there, we will be out fairly quickly. This season should amount to nothing due to ineffective management, horribly uninspiring play and just general naffness.

I thought Wolves were a good shout for the playoffs but I can't see them overhauling the difference now.

I thought we were, at least, at the beginning of the season, but it seems we just dont like to succeed at anything. And the january purchase of a 31 year old striker for 1.2million was daft. Yes, he could score in the spanish second division, but he hasnt scored for us yet!

Its been a season of bad decisions, and we will only get worse next season if we carry on like this! No more parachute money by the end of this season for us!

They have been pants all season now tbh

No strikers is the problem that big Pole they bought is useless

Just used the predictor on BBC website and was as unbiased as could be. Here's the results.....

1 Reading 46 70 110
2 Palace 46 31 85
3 Sheff Utd 46 25 82
4 Watford 46 24 82
5 Leeds 46 22 80
6 Preston 46 24 77

Looks like automatic promotion isn't beyond us after all!!!!
