I need some desperately need some help here guys!

I ordered the Warlord system from Overclockers and yesterday everything was fine.

This morning when I woke up and turned it on I got an hour into playing FM09 when I suddenly got blue screened. The message was something like

"PAGE_FOUND_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA"

Upon restarting I had a message come up saying "Overclocking was unsuccessfull". When Windows eventually started up Windows showed that my CPU was only running at 3.2Ghz ( Overclockers pre overclock this to 3.8Ghz). Ok this didn't bother me too much. I thought I would phone Overclockers tomorrow and get that sorted.

However, I started the internet up and at the same time decided to listen to some music. Suddenly the gauge on the Vista sidebar that measures CPU and RAM usage, ( not sure if this is accurate) was showing the RAM running at 99%. I tried waiting and after about 10 mins this decreased to 91% but I could not do anything. It was basically frozen. Left it alone for half an hour and when I came back it was back down to 63% and I was able to close Windows Media Player. 10 minutes later and the computer completely froze forcing me to hold the power button down. Took over 20 mins to start Windows and after some experimenting I have found that if I even try and run more than 1 program at a time the whole thing crashes and the RAM hits 100%.

After looking online I get the feeling that the processor and memory are not compatible. It is the Phenom II 955 black addition and the memory is Corsair 4gb 1600Mhz. From what I can see this processor does not support DDR3 1600Mhz memory.

Is this the problem? Or is there something wrong with the system altogether? I have to say that the build quality didn't seem that good as after I 1st starting my machine I had to turn it off and open it up to make sure the optical drived were connected properly ( which they werent.)

I'm hoping someone can ease my concerns and tell me that I have not just spent £1000 odd on a machine that won't work. Have to say I read so many different websites with people pleading not to buy from Overclockers and I ignored them based on the helpfull community here that seemed to not have a bad word about them. I'm now starting to think that they were right and that I should just return this for a refund and accept the £200 loss ( they kept making me take days off work to wait for deliveries that never came!)

HEEEEEELLLLLPPPP !

Heya mate sorry to hear about your problem, you should definately get in touch with overclockers about this, ring them and send webnotes etc. they're often very busy so sometimes can be a little difficult to get hold of. The blue screen seems like a stability issue, as for the RAM problem, did you look in task manager to identify what process was eating it up?

A simple call and maybe RMA and I'm sure they will get it sorted for you. Been in same position and it got sorted very quickly and professionally, sometimes a rough delivery can damage components and cables fall out.

Yeah overclockers are pretty good at doing the right thing and sorting out problems.

Use webnote or just ring them tomorrow as Skippy suggests

Thanks guys!

I unfortunately cannot call myself one of those happy with the service from Overclockers. As you can tell I'm not too wise with pcs but even I could tell that the original mobo spec'd with this machine would not work. They promised delivery for Wednesday and it never came. Then Thursday and never came. Phoned up Friday when machine had not turned up by !3:00 to check if they had a tracking number and the guy on the phone told me he didn't know why I was ever told I was getting it as it not yet been dispatched. That cost just over £200 in days off work!

"as for the RAM problem, did you look in task manager to identify what process was eating it up? " - No and I'm new to Visat and stupid as it may sound I can't find task manager. I'm an idiot I know

" run mem test, might b sumthing wrong wid the ram" - Is this something I can find online or is it already on the machine?

Thanks for all your help guys. I would love to get this sorted myself today without having to bother messing about and sending it back etc!

Task manager in Vista - Right click on the task bar and clcik on task manager OR
Ctrl-Alt-Del amd click on Start Task manager.

Pretty much the same as XP

Hi Task manager is not available through either of those options.

Btw I don't suppose anyone could help me get my speakers working? I have a pair of Logitech Z4's plugged in but the sound comes through the monitor. Tried going into control panel and trying to figue out how to change it to the speakers but no luck!

Thanks in advance guys. I am trying to learn about these things so I don't have to consistantl pester people on here!

Also looking back at your post you said that you had to reconnect the optical drive cables?

That kinda fits in with what Rodo said - rough delivery. I would assume that they were connected when they were installing windows etc.

I have also never heard of CPU/memory incompatability. If the motherboard is compatible with both I can't imagine they would be incompatible with each other.

As for problem testing.... have you checked for other loose connections? If it was a bad transit....

Not keen on these pre overclocked systems, I wonder just how much they are stress tested before being shipped out..

Hi thanks for your reply Namak. Yes while I was there I did check everything.

I done a system restore and so far so good. Managed to find task manager ( which was in Control Panel only for some reason?) and with FM09, Kaspersky, Mozilla and WMP all running my CPU usage sits around 2-3% and the memory sits at between 1.75 and 1.84 GB. This is obviously the sort of figures a machine this powerful should be showing but I can't help but feel nervous still.

The only thing that was installed after the date and time shown of the restore point was my printer. Is it even possible that the instillation of a printer ( software cd and drivers) could mess up my system that bad?

I felt like that. WHen I spoke to someone on the friday they said that it should have been shipped earlier but they weren't happy with the temp after overclocking it and had kept it to monitor it. This resulted in me getting an upgraded mobo. Seemed pretty fair to me so I guess I can only defend them there.

Namak my pc is connected to my LCD monitor via a DVI - Hdmi cable!

Thanks again guys.

:)

Yeah when they had trouble getting a part to me (needed desperately for xmas present) they ended up sending me a e7300 instead of a e5200 so I was pretty happy in the end.

As HDMI can send sound I am wondering whether that is taking priorty over the other sound ports....

If you go to control panel > sound > Manage audio devices and stay on the playback tab in the window that comes up....

Can you highlight speakers and click set default?

Hi thanks for the advice Namak I'm sorry its taken me so long to reply but the whole thing ****d up again. I had task manager open and, as it all seemed to be in good health again, I decided to attach one of my external hard drives and scan it for viruses. Lo and behold the RAM starting rising from 1.8gb all the way up to 4gb and froze for over an hour.

Is this a problem with the RAM or do I just need more? The sales guy at overclockers told me that there is no way I would have needed 8gb of RAM unless I was video editing while listening to music and doing virus checks while on the net and playing games at the same time?

Also, thanks for your advice as to the speaker situation. When I go to control panel / sound this is what I get

Erm... why can't I paste the print I made of my screen??

Ok well I do not get an option to manage audio devices anyway. Just a list:

Realtek HDMI Output

Speakers

SPDIF Interface

Digital Output

Thanks again people

I have 8 Gig of RAM and as it was about £30 for the second lot of 4 I don't regret it but I certainly don't need it. my memory useage rarely if ever breaks over 40% no matter what I do.

Yeah from that list it appears you have got to the same place I meant.

Is it a window box with three tabs up the top; playback/recording/sounds and do all the items in your list say working underneath them?

If you click on Speakers there should be a button called "Set Default" below it. I am hoping that if you click that it should overide the HDMI and send sound to your speakers instead.

I think your RAM is faulty, I think essentially 1600 mhz RAM is overclocked by the manufacturer. Sounds like it can no longer handle frequency.

I would suggest that you reduce the RAM speed to 1333 or below via the BIOS, I presume you have access to Bios at start-up.

Check the voltages of the RAM are correct as per manufacturers web site.

To check if all the RAM is detected looked on the Bios should be 4096 or something with that RAM.

When you have lowered the speed of the RAM, perhaps try memtest and see if there are errors. At least you will possibly be able to use the system till your RMA comes through.

WOOOOHOOOOO!

Namak I could kiss you mate! Such a simple solution and now I have sound through the speakers!!

Vonscar to say I am not familiar with how to use the BIOS is an understatement! SHould anyone be able to put up an idiot proof guide on how I can check and change the settings on the BIOS let me know. You shall be held in as high regards of great6 heroes past such as Namak!

Just restarted my PC and done "Windows Memory Diagnostic Test" which reported that there wer no problems with my memory. Is this really that reliabel as it seems to be a memory related problem as far as I can tell!

Cheers Namak, that was starting to irritate me as the speakers in my monitor aren't the best!
