We are thinking of going to either of these places and just wanted to know what it's like we want some where hot, less than six and a half hours away and somewhere to go snorkelling, which place would be best or any other suggestions ?

Thanks

I've been to Malta. I went in August and it was above 30 degrees the entire time. I also went snorkelling there at a place called Blue Lagoon which was fantastic. However I've heard the snorkelling at Sharm El Sheikh is beyond amazing so if snorkelling is high on your list of priorities you're probably best going there.

Malta is lovely but doubt there is much to see snorkelling, the dive sites are in deeper water. I have no idea about Sharm but know it is very busy with dive boats.

Went to malta for the last 2 years, we stayed on the island of Gozo however not the mainland.

Fantastic place, fairly cheap and all the locals were very friendly.

I was in Sharm a couple of years ago in January; temp then was 20.

There were reefs off the beaches from the hotel and the snorkeling on them was great, will definitely recommend it

Snorkeling in sharm el shake was great according to freinds who went last year. They really loved it.
Weather was great from all accounts

Don't the waters off Sharm have Great Whites' ?

The shark attacks there were by oceanic white tipped sharks, not known usually to swim close to shore, but hunger must've driven them to attack humans.

I went to Malta over 20 years ago, hot even in September but the accommodation I stayed in (Dire) put me off going again. Gozo is nice though.

Snorkelling in Sharm was amazing. It was too hot for me though, it didn't get below 40 in August.

Been to Sharm.

Spent the whole week and the week I got home glued to the toilet. Never again. Everyone expects tips too so budget for that!

The place is very nice though, just be sure to carry alcohol gel with you to rub your hands with! Lovely sea with coral and fish.

The wife and myself went to Sharm in 2009, and stayed in the jaz Miriabel Beach hotel. We had a fantastic time, the hotel was always clean and the food was really nice. The snorkeling was amazing, such crystal clear waters and quite warm as well.

:)

+1 to exactly what MysticSniper said. We were at the Jaz Mirabel Beach resort in 2009 and had a fantastic time. We're even going back next week!

Stayed here last month, fantastic place. Snorkelling and scuba were amazing it was like swimming in an aquarium. Looking at heading back same time next year, according to locals it was the end of the winter so a little cold at 36c

I went to Sharm El Sheikh last year for a week - All Inclusive - It was probably one of the best holidays I've ever had :p Everyone was really really friendly, the weather was amazing, there was lots to do - Just a really nice place :) Would definitely go again that's for sure.

Make sure to not drink from the tap - only from bottled water, or else your tummy feel a little funny :p
