I've seen a lot of people saying when they overclock, their vista caves in and doesn't work. Yet i've seen a few people who have overclocked and their OS is vista.

Whats the chances of being able to overclock and vista ultimate still working 100% ?

Could you post and say if vista does or doesn't work for you, and list your hardware and vista version.

My specs; E6600, 2GB Crucial 10th ann, EVGA 680i, 8800 GTX

Should vista still work on this system after it's overclocked?

Cant see how its any diffrent from xp, As long as its a stable clock it should be fine.
But i aint got vista yet so im not 100% on that

If i am not wrong your overclock must work 100% ,the only programms which might gona have problems is TAT ,SP2004 ,dunno if Vista got upgrated so far! SpeedFan has to work though !
lets see what the pro boys will say :p

CPUZ does not work on x64 unless you press F8 @ startup and disable digital signatures, AiSuite works well in vista to show temps & currently clocking, l@@k at my sig.

Same clock I had in XP I now have in Vista Ultimate :)

Am I right in saying best clock is via CPU? as I'm on 2.7 but my memory is at 166 atm?

What I mean is should I always go for CPU power or drop the CPU a bit and get memory mhz up a bit?

I mates

seems my overclock is not so good in Vista Ultimate ( @32bits)

I do easely 475x8= 3800mhz on XP but in Vista ,no boot

I have to lower the clock to 450x8( 3600mhz) in order to boot normaly in Vista

one thing: navigate in the net is much faster in Vista( do not now why!!)

Kool thanks guys!

Does Orthos work in vista x64 ?

netby, just a random guess lol, but maybe if you up your vcore a bit vista might boot at 3800 mhz. No idea tho

Vista 64 user here, my 6300 is currently running at 2.11ghz (I'm in the middle of overclocking it) so far, and everything's been smooth sailing. Coincidentially, none of my games ever open up now, giving a BSOD every time. Not sure if that's related to the OC'ing, or if my graphics drivers have suddenly started hating me. Stress tests like Prime95 run just fine for hours on end.
