Who's getting a new GTS?

I couldn't wait any longer so have just ordered a Leadtek 8800GT. I'm putting it in a new rig which will replace old system with 9800pro. Ideally i want this up and running before Xmas as i have quite a bit of leave to use up! Couldn't bear the thought of there being same stock probs as GT and having maybe to wait until 2008 to get one!

Hope i havn't made a mistake...!!!!!

I can't help if people don't agree with my valid points or posting style. I'll call a truce here and let's get this back on topic.

To the OP's question

No I'm not getting a GTS. :)

No truces, I was enjoying that!

Hey Tom I think you should get yourself two GTS' in SLI.

Sod the GTX mate that was sooooooo last month!!

Dead tech don't you know.:D

Gibbo kind of suggested the new 8800GTS 512MB will cost around £240 (or simalar price) so bascially if you got £240 to spend, buy a 8800GTX as it's faster.

Think i may cash in on my 8800GT but which route is the best, GTS or GTX (i want best performance not best value)

ill be getting one, will be a nice upgrade from my current 7900gt, used to have 2 in sli but 1 failed on me yesterday:mad:

I'm tempted but to be honest, I run a 19" 1280X1024 TFT and wanting 2XAA or 4XA ideally, would this level of AA say on COD4 or The HL2 engine push the memory use over the 512mb of the GT/GTS? or is 512mb enough?

For crysis I'd like to be able to use medium/high at 2XAA again on 320mb it suffers a lot with any real attempt at upping the settings.

Which is why I'm also tempted to wait for the 9800 or even a 1gb version of a gt/gts

COD 4 and HL2 are not that demanding. I was running COD4 at 1920x1200 with max detail and I think AA. With 1280x1024 you will probably be OK with 8X AA.

The GT is all you need. I would forget the 9800 in Feb at the resolution you play.

Cheers :) think I'll do some testing on HL2, Cod4, Crysis and sup commander also :)

Running the new Eve client with AA+HDR at 8xAA 8xAF around 40 - 60fps too, but that was without much happening on screen

you certainly havn't !!!!

the GT is a fantastic performer and you will see a simply huge performance gain from your 9800pro

the advantage gained going from the GT to the GTS is almost insignificant ...

enjoy :D:D

Should change the 1 year warranty on that gtx to 2 years really seeing as that's a european law i think some people may get put off by the 1 year warranty thing when no need as minimum it's 2 years.

OK, now i am really confused.

I'm wating on a new 8800 card for xmas, but now i'm not sure which one.

I was going to get the Zotac AMP! (being the fastest GT out there) as i A: dont want to OC it B: I'm not paying for it.

Now the GTS is a reality, and people are saying its on its way, well i could streetch to £250, no problem. Also, the GTX from OCUK £250 delivered is fine as well, but i am not sure which one i should go for?

Could someone point me in the right direction please?

Cheers.

Get the GTX for £250 can't go wrong really if you were overclocking i would say get the GTS though.
The Gtx will still be the fastest stock for stock.

Do brands make a difference?

Do you think the rest of the GTX range will fall in line with the OC special soon?

If so i might wait a week or so.

So GTS if i were to OC? The GT now out of the picture then.

God its so bloody confusing, why on earth Nvidia didn't name the new GTS 8900 of something.
