they should overclock to the ultra speeds. But the ultras have the A3 cores like the old GTS which overclock reallly well so the ultras when overclocked are quite far ahead of the overclocked GTXs
What core does this one have?
I saw someone mention the A3 core earlier on in the thread.
This card seems the most sensible option for me right now, in stock, fast enough, i'm not paying, think i might just go for it.
The 9800 is coming in feb.
If it was me I would be getting a GT and waiting.
The GT offers nearly GTX performance. You will be suprised how fast they are.
look at the 06mark thread and see the GT at the top of the list.
They clock well and are cheaper.
The 9800 is so close.Wouldn't you be dissapointed when they arrive and are twice as fast as a GTX?
Not everyone buys the next peice of hardware the moment it comes out.
The GTX doesn't have the same core as the old GTS and ultra. I dont know about the new GTS and GT as to what core they have but it wont be an A3 as thats the G82 chip size not G92
I'm confused, the GTS and GTX had the G80 core, the only diference was a slightly lower memory bus on the GTS and less Stream Processors, the Ultra had a G80+ core, not much different though.
GTS and GT both have the same core just the GTS has more stuff enabled.
Its great how at the height of GT mania a week ago, if you'd mentioned the GTX on here you would have got lynched. Now its back in fashion. Truth is, its a great card, the best on the market if you are gaming at high res. If you can pick one up brand new at sub £240 its the one to get.

I know.
Whats your point?

Yes and people had a good reason to recommend the GT over the GTX a week ago.
If the price premium wasn't on the GT cards. And people could get them for 150 like I did. No one would be talking about the GTX.
You always seem to see thinsg from your perspective of unlimited money when people ask about upgrading. Why does it matter if something new comes out in 2 months that will be twice as powerful as a GTX. It will be twice as powerful as the GTS as well, the gtx is still better then the GTS. He may not be able to afford the 9800s.
.
It matters because 240 is a lot of money. So would be gutted if a new card came that was twice as fast but didn't cost twice as much.
And 240 is not a lot of money?
In my eyes it is.
Then i'll just provisionally buy your GT for £120 when the new GTS comes out next week then.
Then i'll buy the GTS off you when the 9800 comes out.

Get the GTX for £250 can't go wrong really if you were overclocking i would say get the GTS though.
The Gtx will still be the fastest stock for stock.
