Who's getting G80?

Hi there

Well everybody because everyone will fall for the DX10 marketing.

However its still gonna spank anything else at DX9 titles too so everybody is gonna want them. :D

We shall have plenty of BFG overclocked product with lifetime warranty to offer out. :)

Hi there

They will be far quicker in DX9, you can count on that. DX10 is just an added bonus for when game support does come out. Obviously SLi potential will depend on DX10 as well.

ETA is same time as the new nForce 680 Intel chipset which can do 450MHz FSB and supports SLi fine and this will be November. Its a hard launch and stock will be hard to find so expect prices to be sky high in the 1st month of release, no doubt close to £500 but yet to be confirmed.

ATI have nothing to compete with on the high-end. Expect those guys to just focus on their X1950 XTX and X1950 Pro solutions been cheaper. I am guessing at maybe £199+VAT for the X1950XTX and maybe as cheap as £99+VAT for the X1950 Pro in say 4-6 weeks time, however this is me guessing and ATI may just hold back and watch how things go. So they can judge if their R600 can cut it against the G80 which will be released upon VISTA launching.

I won't be upgrading and am sure a lot won't they going to be far to expensive, maybe next summer is a different thing.

Hi there

Remember I am guessing, if ATI sales demand is good enough for their inventry then they won't move on price. Plus if these new NV cards are like £500 then obviously ATI won't drop their pricing either. I am just guessing and as such if my guess is wrong don't shoot me.

Well, the prices aren't too bad at the moment and can only go down. just have to wait and see what happens when G80 shows up.

I fancy an upgrade I will see how much better the DX9 scores are than the GX2 and make my decision on that, as long as the G80 spanks along nicely in DX9 I may consider one.

I'm not a fan of SLI solutions and would much rather just have a single card solution.

I have been thinking about either a pair of 7900gtos or a single 8800gt/gtx depending on price vs performance. The problem with the 8800s though is that they are nearly a foot long and I can't for the life of me see how I'm going to fit one in my case.

I also remember well when the 7800gtx came out and how, just a couple of months later, people who'd bought one at launch were gutted at how much they depreciated.

I think the key thing that will sway me is when I find a game that I like that I can't spank with my current set-up without getting artifacts. As soon as that happens at least one of my gts will be relegated to other machines and i'll buy whatever the best deal is at the time.

I'll probably keep hold of my GX2 as I doubt I will see any noticable difference to justify the price tag of early G80's.

Certainly not me, I just got my x1900xt, G80+ or R600+ comes with my next upgrade which will be mid to end of next year.

If they're under 400 each then I'll probably buy a couple, however, if they're more than that I'll wait, the new house has battered my bank balance. :(
