I have a 8800GTS 640 here.
I will be waiting to see not just the first initial reviews upon release, but right up until after the 4870X2 is released and reviewed. I want to see what the prices are, performances are, and whether there are still any teething issues with some games and the X2.
I also want to see which card can do 1920 x 1200 with decent AA and detail, because at the moment there are very few games that I play that my GTS 640 can't - I'm not a fps chasing wh0re. Crysis doesn't count - it is worse than big girls dirty grey pants.
Unless there is a dramatic improvement, I won't bother upgrading until Nehalem is out in Q1 2009, by which time the various refreshes should have taken place and the price fallen.
Completly agree and exactly my thoughts... I'm going to pick up my 2nd 8800GT on Friday from OC'ers (before anyone flames, I've always wanted to see SLi in practive for a lng time on my own rig, and for £100 quid, I don't see why not), so I'm happy for now, and I'll let everyone/everything argue itself out, at the end of the day I only had £230 quid to spend on GPUs which won't pay for any of the new stuff anyway, so I'll stick with SLi for a bit, then IF/WHEN it gets slowdown (Crysis aside), I'll have a look and see what's what.
As a side to that, if I had the money on ther hip right now, I'd go and buy, but deffo not the top one, as there's no way I'm paying £400+ for a new GPU... that buys a PS3 with a 22" monitor that... which is just insane IMHO
Cheers Pug
