Who's Gonna Wait For A PS3?

I've pretty much poo-poo'd Sony's general attitude and seeming contempt towards us Europeans when it comes to the PS3, and as a very minor stand, I have vowed not to jump on the PS3 bandwagon, and head towards the 360.

I picked up a 360 around a month ago, and was impressed with the amount of games alread out for it. Obviously, I have come late to the party, and had I of arrived when the first batch of '360 dip' was being passed around, I wouldn't of had such a wide selection of games to choose from.

My point, I guess, is this... who out there has decided to hold back on the PS3 until the 'better games' are on display?

I'm sticking to the 360... for a quite a while to come. The next tech spend I make will not be on a PS3, but upgrading my PC to Conroe/8800.

Mind you... all that could change if Sony pulls a long string of 'real' next-gen games out of the hat!!!!!!

Likwise, however, the little person that is my mum will be stamping her feet on my head if I get one.

Heh, that sounds like me.

I don't really want or need one. But it's a new console...

Couldn't really afford one right now even if I wanted it anyway so it's irrelevant.

Gonna be buying one if a few things happen first. Namely the price drops or I find a money tree and if the games that come out are worth getting. I would like one but cant justify it just yet.

I think you've got more money than sense* if you buy any console at launch.

The starting line-up of games usually consists of one must0buy title, maybe two fairly decent games and a lot of mediocre/rushed games. It's the same with the Wii and it was the same with the Xbox 360.

Then there's a huge wait for the second wave of games and your eagerness to use your shiny new console forces you to buy games that just aren't up to your usual quality expectations.

A sensible gamer would never buy a console at launch.

(* I include myself in that category :p)

The only reason I would buy a PS3 is as a Blu-Ray player, I was hoping that HD-DVD would take off but the list of titles availalbe on Blu-Ray is far more compelling than HD-DVD.

I would love to see a Blu-Ray drive for the 360 (OK it may be a difficult pill for MS to take but it should be about consumer choice)

Another reason i'm having second thoughts of getting a PS3 is, if i get one there most likely be two in the house. As i don't speak to my brother..

Yeah I have been offered the chance to have one for £320 by a guy who can get one himself heavily discounted but doesnt want it.

I'm seriously tempted as I want the F1 game. But £320 to play one game seems a bit much and there isnt a lot else on there I like the look of.

Apparently there is a quote from some MS guy on the BBC website saying he's not too bothered about the format wars, and if Blu Ray takes off they'll release a player for the 360. Edit: Here it is:-

BBC Website said:
Neil Thompson, head of Xbox in the UK, said: "The Xbox 360 offers a better gaming experience than PS3 for £150 less."
...

Mr Thompson said it did not matter which high definition DVD video system wins the format war.

"Whatever format wins it is highly likely we will offer a solution," he said.
