So i'm thinking Fractal Define XL, though it didnt get the best score I think this could work with some extra fans.

Anyone got one, I've read some posts by people who were disappointed with the case but i'm sure adding two extra front fans would do a really good job.

Anyone one got any suggestions?

Bad review everywhere seems a bit harsh as the only review I have seen is the Bit-Tech one. Have any more been made? And the only thing bad in the Bit-Tech review was the cooling, and if I remember right, the first review of the R2 they did was poor for cooling, because they only used the stock fans. An XL with some decent extra fans should be good, and if I had the money I think I'd get it, I already have 4 Akasa Apache fans.

I have one (and an r3).

Very happy with mine - replaced the 180mm fan with a silverstone air penetrator, and the rear 140mm with a xigmatek. Running my i7 920 at 3.8ghz with venomous x cooler - temps with Prime95 have been around 65-70deg.

Ita a great case for sli imo, as ive removed the middle hd cage so the 140mm intake fan blows straight towards my 470 cards. Plenty of room for cable management as well.

Prefer this case to my r3, as its bigger, side panels close easier, and id rather look at the top of a case which doesnt have fan holes.

Seems to get a bad review everywhere...

Shame as I really like the simplistic design and would much prefer it over something like the HAF X.

Ye i know, but as I said extra fans could turn it into a great case.

Though this dude (done a really good review but again only with stock cooling) seems to have other issues like placement of bottom psu grommet and placement of the angled 180mm fan. Still i like the XL.

Thanks for the reply, i think im definitely gona get this now.

I'm thinking about adding 1 Noctua NF-P14 FLX Vortex-Control (to the middle w/o hdd cage) 1 fractal design 140mm and 1 Akasa apache to the front, I already have antec tri-cool which i'll add to the bottom next to the PSU.

I hate fans on the roof, my antec900 blows dirty dusty air from the top to under my desk and straight up to me and its giving me chest/breathing issues. Im hoping that as its exhaust is in the rear this will help.

But surely if you replace all the fans in the case you may as well have bought something better in the first place?

Air penetrator fans are something like £15 each, the Noctua is £17, the Apache is nearly £10. By this point you have a £155 case, where for £10 more (from a competitor admittedly) you could have a Lian Li A70FB, or a silver Silverstone FT02 which perform far better out of the box and won't require changing of fans. They also received excellent reviews from Bit-Tech.

You make a good point. But i dont like the designs of either and they're well over £160.

I can get the XL and 3 fans for £140. If theres anything at that price or slightly higher i'll consider it. Any ideas?

RV02B-EW would be the obvious suggestion - it's the same as the FT02 internally, and is £140 on a competitor's site - and will be in stock on Wednesday.

Not feeling the Silverstone style. Plus i really dont want any exhaust fans on the roof, or any fans on the roof.

I've now seen Antec Dark Fleet DF-85 Case looks OK, would prefer something like XL since i have a antec900 already, but it has 7 fans and is only £129.90, any thoughts?

You aren't digging the Silverstone style, but the Dark Fleet is ok? You have strange taste my friend...

No denying that it works well though.

Out of interest, why do you not want any roof exhaust fans?

I explain a little above, basically the PC will be and is under my desk (antec 900) and the air is pushed out to the top (underside) of my desk and travels to my face and I'm currently breathing in dusty air which is doing my head in.

Ye the silverstone has roof fan and is angled really oddly which is really wat i dont like.

The Darkfleet has loads of fans and looks ok and has hot swapable option, 4 of them. But i just checked out linustechtips, he shows some of the flaws of the case and Im reconsidering, or just sticking to the fractal.
