Who's still on LGA 1366 i7 ?

Still a cracking chip IMHO.

Was thinking of upgrading - I mainly game, web browsing - So, instead of upgrading I did some maintenance. Got a new Gigabyte G1 Assassin X58 board for £250 - They were £450 - and upgraded my memory from 6GB to 12GB, but I might get 24GB, plus a new M4 256GB SSD.

Intel made a very solid chip.

Yea, still on i7 920 D0 here (like quite a few forum members) and I don't plan on upgrading for quite some time - since this chip is generally powerful enough for everything I do (mainly gaming and a bit of CAD).

IIRC I bought the chip for £240 and the board for £220 back in march 2009 - so it has turned out to be a pretty decent investment.

My i7 is less than three months old - perhaps you should have been a bit more specific ;)

Sarcasm aside, since the advent of mutli-core processors, it's not unreasonable to expect to get 3-5 years of life out of your processor. I used a QX6700 for 5 years, and were it not for my needs changing, I could have stuck with it until it finally died. With 12GB of RAM I can't see your system being outdated any time soon!

Still happy with my 920, even with a modest OC of 3.6GHz it handles everything I throw at it with ease. I'll take a look at Ivy Bridge when it arrives, but the closer it gets the more I think I might skip it for Intel's next "tock".

930 @ 3.8Ghz, I will also look at Ivy Bridge but for gaming there is not really any incentive to upgrade other than to have the latest and greatest in my opinion.

I think I bought my i7 around the time the 5970 originally came out, although I havent actually used it for some time (been mainly a laptop user)

Need to sort out my desk, get my 30" dell set up, and then find some money for some decent graphics card (s) and Im sure I will use it happily for some time to come

Still running my 930 here at 4GHz and won't be upgrading any time soon! It will probably be another 2 years or more before I think about upgrading.

Stoner81.

Still running a 920 here. No problems running anything at all so far.

Might upgrade my RAM from 6gb to 12gb soon though.

Running 920 since launch, have 2600k too, only need to upgrade for true sata3 speeds or if you like a cooler running chip imo, otherwise you won't notice any difference

Only got my i7 920 D0 last november and I have yet to find a need to upgrade it :D (even at stock-ish)

£75 for modern day performance is nothing to turn your nose up at! (think the cheap 6870 and a c300 sad helps it fly along too).

Should do me nicely for a few years yet

Still on the i7 920, enough for my needs, will probably upgrade when Ivybridge starts getting cheaper, ie a year or so after they come out officially, 2014 most likely. Will spend the cash on a tablet, hopefully the samsung one which should be announced soon enough.

Still running a 920 and a 930. Still more than enough for my needs. The performance to cost ratio makes changing them a bit pointless.

i just sold mine in a fit of madness- if I was a sensible person I would still be running x58 as its more than capable and still the best option for sli/xfire compared to z68.

Still really happy with my i7 920. For 24/7 use it's at 4.0GHz (20x200). Paid around £205 for the CPU I think and just £140 for the motherboard and it's been a really very good investment. Never really felt like it needed to be quicker at any time. Have been tempted to sell it and get an i5 2500K when the upgrade itch sometimes strikes then common sense pervails thank God. It'd cost me around £100 for an upgrade which isn't much but just not worth it for such little gains and would rather spend that on other things anyway. Will be hanging onto this system for a little while but may grab a decent IPS screen and upgrade video card.
