Why on earth do people like Lazenby?
I can't believe it. Are you kidding?

Connery & Moore are obviously the best.
I'm undecided on the others.
Dalton is good because he's playing the cold hearted killer we caught a glimpse of in Dr No when Connery shoots the geologist guy ruthlessly, the same thing the latest incarnation with Craig seems to be aiming at but doing miles better.
Brosnan reminds me of too much of a car insurance salesman, don't really like tomorrow never dies or the world is not enough, haven't seen his others recently so can't comment.
The new one didn't really feel like a Bond film much though, but that might be because I'm a little older and a little less suscpetible to feeling influenced by films.

Opinions are like bumholes ;)

I never saw any Bond in Connery. He doesn't have the look, the voice, the mystique, the aura.... he's just wrong. I don't rubbish other people for liking him though.

I wasn't trying to rubbish other people for liking Lazenby, I was just expressing surprise and trying to provoke an explanation!
See in my little world, Sean Connery IS James Bond, no questions.
I never even considered the possibility that someone actually thought Lazenby was any good at all! My mistake, I'll try and think twice before dissing anyone's opinion again.

In my world Sean Connery is a crap actor that can't play anyone but himself and I've no idea how anyone can see him as a bond. Like I say, everyone has an opinion :)

the new bloke is the best, non of the crappy slogans that go with the brosnan bond.. and omg, Bond actually bleeds... its so much more realistic, with the excitement that he comes close to getting killed....

he also has the psychotic aura of being wacked repeatedly in the mummy daddy button and liking it....

All I need to know is that the Pierce Brosnan era ruined Bond for me.

Goldeneye was absolutely brilliant and a great start, but everything after that was just plain rubbish. Utter tosh. To be fair I don't think it was Brosnan's fault, but whoever it was who tried to turn Bond into a stupid comic book style hero with stupid gadgets for everything. It completely destroyed the franchise for me. It effectively removed all the class and coolness from bond and replaced it with chav-tastic OTT action retardedness.

I voted Sean Connery for this though. His Bond will always be best by a long way.

I wouldn't deny him being a crap actor by any means (albeit he has been in some pretty good films) but I still think he makes the best Bond, there is a certain amount of charisma and style in his early films that the others since have not matched.

As a minor point he is probably also about the closest in nationality terms to Ian Fleming's orginal Bond since the character in the books was half Scottish, half French-Swiss if memory serves, rather oddly for the man who is seen as the quintessential English secret agent. :)

But it wasn't that way in the book(s)
i don't care, i've never read the books

He wasn't a double 0 agent until the end of this one though. Thats the point.
didn't he attain 00 at the start of the film? i thought you had to have killed 2 people. i'll wait to see what he's like in the next one he does before i render my final verdict anyway. the storyline on this one was a little too different to judge him against the others

Maybe I prefer him because he was the first Bond I saw, as a kid.
He is definitely typecast into that role, no doubt.
Even he seems to have resigned himself to being a crap actor!

From Wiki:
Connery's own feelings on Bond in interviews have run the gamut from bitter resentment to great fondness. At one point, he said that he hated the Bond character so much that he'd have killed him, but he has also stated that he never hated Bond, but merely wanted to pursue other roles. Certainly, when the James Bond series was at its peak in the mid-1960s, his association with the 007 image was so intense that different performances in his non-Bond films, such as Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie, A Fine Madness, and Sidney Lumet's The Hill, were virtually ignored. When asked if he'd ever escape the identification, he replied, "Never. It's with me till I go in the box."

I see a lot of actors that can't really act like anyone other than themselves, but who fit the roles they are given perfectly.

at the start of the film he it shows a flashback to bashing some bloke around a bathroom... then he kills the other bloke in the office thing... then he gets double 0 status... so it happens within the first like... 5-10 mins of the film

best bond though, hes how a normal person would be in a secret agents shoes... if that makes sence...

I really didn't think Craig would make a bond at all.

However he really seemed to pull it off in my oppinion. Before seeing the moovie he just didn't have the Bond feel for me.

I haven't seen many of the old bonds so cant really comment on them

However I would say Craig and Brosnen are both god candidates for the top spot.

If you haven't seen them and you like James Bond films, watch them :) There some of the best.

Indeed. I've been meaning to see them for a while now. I guess I either need to wait for them to reappear on tv (dowt it :D) or buy them, if the latter it will be a while..
