As the title suggests who's going to upgrade or build a new rig for BF3.
I got onto the Alpha for a few hours and must say it looks and feels great and the developers are already working on what people didn't like about it (3D spotting, commo rose ect)

So who's upgrading?

Why cant i put up a poll lol.

Im building from scratch but struggling on if i should get an i5 or i7 and what gfx card, its mainly going to be for gaming but will do a lot of HD video editing using sony vegas, also photoshop.

Tempted to buy a larger monitor either a 27" or 30" to really experience the Battlefield :D
If I do and I need it I'll SLI my graphics card but rest of PC should be fine, BC2 plays great.

whats specs have you come up with so far? I did a spec but was told the cooler was no good for the ram i choose, Im so far behind on pc tech its unreal.

Same - it's a real struggle! I've been out of 'the game' for about 3-4 years now.

Have this in my cart at the moment but unsure about monitor and want to bring down the price a bit too:

my new setup below runs everything I have tried smoothly so far, playing Crysis 2 with the extra graphic add-ons with no lag at all.
you could save a pound or two by getting an OEM processor as you dont need the stock fan with the retail version

Looks good, but I would change the monitor to a Samsung 3D one as they are supposed to be just as good colour wise and obviously it does 3D aswell

I'm building a new computer but it's not for any game in particular. I have the graphics card already, and the rest of it will be here tomorrow.

Intel i5 2500k with Corsair Hydro H80
Asus P8Z68-V Intel Z68
16GB Kingston HyperX Genesis memory
MSI 6950 2GB Twin Frozr III

Really looking forward to playing some Skyrim on it. May also pick up another 6950 for some Crossfire sexyness.

Looks great danbt, however, for £10 more you could have THIS graphics card which has a better cooler.

Hey. Thanks.

I did originally have that card in my basket, but its ETA is overdue, and im beginning to think its not going to turn up or something lol.

Is there anything in the build you think could be upgraded? How about the motherboard, upgraded to the one linked earlier in this thread?

Would that provide any benefits?

Cheers all.

A rig tha can run bf3 well is something like this:
i5 2500k
gtx 460/560ti and above ati radeon 67 somthings
4gb ram (8gb is so cheap might as well stump the extra for that)
ssd if you have the spare dollar, will decrease loading times
say 650 watt psu to power it all, aftermarket cooling ect
tell me if im worng, thats what im getting...

try calling ocuk for another ETA
Everything else looks fine, mobos aren't my strong area

In the last day or so I ordered new PC (well parts anyways) for BF3, but not specifically that. Only for gaming though..

Included
GTX570 GFX
i5-2500k
SSD
8GB Ram

And other various bits like mobo, PSU etc that I know little of.

Should be awesome when it arrives though :-)

This is the spec I am about to purchase but want to try and find a cooler that will fit and wont cause problems with the ram. If you can see a hardware conflict or anything id appreciate your help thanks.
