Whose 7900GT/GTX works? :-)

ASUS 7900 GTX here clocked to 700/1800 works flawlessy 24/7 at these speeds.

And doesn't even get hot. :D
Forgot to mention mine doesn't get hot also :)

And of course works 24/7 flawlessly! :p

Edit: (@lay-z-boy)
And how can you compare the 7900's to the FX series? the FX series were pretty bad in performance 7900 series are great!

I guess you're talking about the FX series breaking like some of the 7900's right?

im compairing products within the same company, but if you want a comparison on reliability then i will say its about as reliable as the first 9800pro's. (iirc)
And after the first few people suffered with the problem i dedicded to move to ati graphics systems even though i dislike their drivers with a deep hate.

I think its pretty ridiculous with the amount of people saying stuff about them. A couple of my friends have XFX 7900GT Extremes and have had for atleast 2 months now and they are still fine. Most people that come on these forums overclock and i think thats the reason why they are going duff!

An expert speaks... lol

I have had two borked 7900GTXs in the space of two months. Different brands, different BIOSes. Identical symptoms: borked. One vanilla, one factory overclocked. Admittedly the BFG OC was borked straight away, the other took a couple of weeks to go bad.

I've gone through the pain barrier on this now, it is almost amusing... currently awaiting RMA from BFG.

Back at you, those with problems will always shout the loudest, as you demonstrate so ably :p

There does seem to be some issues with some early cards no question, and you seem to have had more than your fair share, but most I would suggest are fine. I had one of the first cards off the shelves at OCUK (Gainward 7900GTX) and its worked fine every day since, for what must be over 3 months now. If you do a search on Google you will see many posts, but you will also see conjecture and definitives from people who base their 'knowledge' on other peoples conjecture. A case of the blind leading the blind most the time. In case you're wondering, the games on my desktop as I type are:

BF2
Call of Duty 2
Quake 4
Oblivion
Brothers in Arms
GTR
Mame32
Riddick
MS FS2004
Fear
GT Legends

So it’s fair to say I have 'stressed' my card with some of the latest games. It is obvious that there are some issues with some cards, but just because a few individuals have had issues it does not make a trend, it just makes them more vociferous because they are having problems, which I fully appreciate are a real pain in the preverbal.

I have seen people claiming that NVIDIA acknowledge the 7900GTX’s are all faulty. Well I have not seen that. I see mention of problems with overclcocks with some of the early boards, but also I see them saying that’s just the odd few, and all of them are tested and work fine.

I tend to go with that rather than a few (understandably) ****** off users who have experienced the problems mentioned above.

I would have thought it would be commercial suicide to admit that a product has design faults - even if it does ...!

Therefore, I would find it extremely surprising, if Nvidia had made such a statement.

Two Gainward 7900GTX's - no problermo here ... touch wood.

I am on my 3rd 7900GTXOC. The previous 2 went wrong after about 3 weeks each. I did no extra OC'ing - they just died. Not a driver problem, not a heat problem (on the core anyway). So far so good for my current one.

I've had a Gainward Bliss 7900 GT "Golden Sample" 512MB for @2 months and I've had no problems with it at all, my brother has had his about 5 weeks and he's had the same results:)

XFX 7900gt here.
Works flawlessly, I leave it at stock atm as I really don't need it any faster.
Rest assured I will do the voltmod at some point (ie once I have a heatsink on the pwm)

I've seen infra-red photos of a 7900GT showing a glaring flaw. Literally glaring on the usual colour-scale infra-red, bright glaring white. An uncooled chip on the back of the card at 82C, which is not good.

However, I've also seen that the problem is caused by capacitors that are either too low in quality or too low in strength, and reports of the problem being fixed by wiring new caps in, with photos of that too. This idea explains why cards are failing about a few weeks or months.

I've got a Leadtek 7900GT and I don't think there's a problem with it, but I am getting a few unexplained crashes and a couple of reboots. I intend to try the various tests for it, starting with 3D Mark 2006 to look for artefacts.

If I get the Zalman vf900Cu that I'm intending to get if I'm sure the card is OK, I'm going to stick one of those little heatsinks on every chip on the card, just in case.

Bought my card about 7 weeks ago but only had system built yesterday no games have even been installed on it yet and there already dots starting to appear on screen what are overclockers like at replace faulty cards?
