Whose getting a Samsung 9 Series?

£400 for 23" is a joke, guess I won't be holding out for these and probably going with the LG which has recently shown good value for money with price drops.

P.S. I must point out I am only interested in 120hz gaming.

Unfortunately with a lot of the upcoming 120Hz monitors 'integrated 3D' is a key feature and no doubt contributes heavily to the price. The SA950 also features some integral features that are specific to 3D gaming - the extra smoothness of 120Hz is really only a side-effect of the technology even if many people do warmly welcome it. The RRP has to be taken with a few shakes of salt, even if it is correct (it seems far too low for the 27" SA950 I'll tell you that much). Once they hit retail and a bit of competition kicks in I wouldn't be surprised to see prices closer to the £350 mark. For a monitor of that apparent build quality with integrated 3D capability that isn't a bad price. Even if it is 23 inches! The AlienWare OptX, which still has plenty of potential buyers and happy users, costs around £400 and that's only '23 inches' sans any sort of integrated 3D capability. I know this is an extreme example but I would wait for launch and perhaps a little bit afterwards before trying to work out pricing.

P.S. Did you notice LG were still showing off the 15" OLED display at that event? The 31" version, which would be much more impressive, is now due (cross fingers) for later this year but was originally supposed to be out this March. That would be a real crowd pleaser.

I did see the 15" OLED monitors, by accident actually. Pretty neat looking things - so thin! Didn't see anything bigger than that though.

i already bought the perfect screen,i may go for a bulldozer upgrade this summer (if its worth it) Q6600 is getting old.

With my current monitor on its last legs (flickers after turning it on and eventually switches itself back off again) I've been looking for a new monitor and would like to plunge into 3D gaming and movies.

This new series seems to be just what I'm looking for. I'm using a 22" Samsung at the moment and sometimes I have to squint to read text at 1680x1050, so I really didn't fancy going to 1920x1080 on a 23.6" screen :o So hopefully 27" would be just right.

Any news on a release date for these?

Currently stands as late May or June. It has been wobbly though as it was originally March and then 'Spring'.

The 'TA' varients have slightly different inputs and built in TV tuners (and speakers I believe) and were launched in South Korea a few weeks ago. Samsung monitors are often launched a few weeks earlier in the USA but I am hopefully we will see these on our shores within the next 4-5 weeks. That article you posted will be regularuly updated as anything else is known - you have my personal assurance. ;)

It does indeed. I like how the nonplussed reporter dares to compare it to an OLED monitor, though. I'm sure the UltraClear panel coating will help bring out the best in the monitor but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Has anyone even had a guess at prices?

I think it will be priced about the same as the Apple one... want!

Yes - if you follow the last link posted here by MadMax the article states £499 as a potential RRP for the S27A950 and £399 for the S27A750. Unfortunately all sorts of prices and release dates have been thrown about but a number of sources have reiterated these figures recently making them believable estimates.

I do really like the look of these, but I suspect they will be waaaaaay outside my £300 budget lol.

Off topic: PCM2 I just noticed you're from the same city as me. I'm in Heaton, where abouts are you mate?

Haha. I used to live in Heaton. I'm actually travelling around a lot in and out of the toon at the moment for work but when settled I hail from Little Benton (so next door to Heaton really!)
