I did have the 3090FE and when I built my new system early this year I sold the 3090 and bought a 4090FE.
I don't see a reason to buy a 50xx card this time around, the 4090 still has a lot to offer.

pretty sure I'll upgrade but maybe not at release. Been using the 4090 for other hobbies and not just gaming including 3d rendering and video work so any more power is really welcome. Want to try playing with UE5 next year as well

Sitting on the fence...

Hopefully will get a 5090 unless the price is ridiculous then I will buy another 4090 and wait for the 6000 series.

Didn't Nvidia say they were going to start doing yearly releases rather than every two years?

I work in a restaurant in the kitchen. I kinda stumbled into it by accident as I quit my previous job and needed a temporary interim job for 6 months while I was looking. That was 15 years ago...DoH!

I read your post with great interest. I can't speak for anyone else but whether I had a 10 year old setup or AMD/Nvidia latest and greatest I just love talking shop. And I would treat any person who shared the same passion and interest as me whether they had a £500 or a £5000 setup with the same decorum of respect.

If you know the amount of people who own stuff like the 4090 and 9800x3d is marginal in the whole scope of pc gaming/ownership what they own or do not own is not really your concern or what they say just enjoy your setup for what it is.

And if you play league of legends you will notice that I suck regardless of what setup I own :p
I had a weird conversation with a young lad the other day who's brother thinks expensive headphones will help him play better

yes you might gain a slight edge say on a £40 headset vs a £20 but once you reach a certain price point £50-£100 its all about comfort and build quality sound quality will improve but that is subjective

Wow, 42.1% of forum members don't look at benchmarks if you've already decided you're getting an Nvidia card without even checking out the competition. I don't know why gamers nexus even bothers

Where is the poll option for those of us who are waiting to see how they compare???

I have no doubt that the vast majority will have pending Benchmark as a caveat to their choice. Of course you're probably aware of that, but then you couldn't make a sarky comment about it.

which competition is that? AMD or Intel? Neither of those are competing much these days. AMD used to be mid range but this time round be lucky if they compete with 5060ti and Intel can barely beat a 4060ti. The competition is no where to be found. Anyway I am going to sell my AMD and Intel shares and buy shares in Durex Lube factory instead :D

Are they likely to do a mid series refresh and add vram to more cards?

Possibly.

3GB DDR7 modules will be more readily available next year so we could see ti/super versions with more VRAM.

I reckon next year we’ll see the proper 4080 with 24GB and more CUDA cores. But then again, with nothing competitive from AMD this generation, nvidia probably won’t bother.

Mhm, that's not too old. Coil whine is a high frequency sound and as humans age their hearing deteriorates and it's the high frequency you lose first, so it's possible to not hear coil whine if one has already lost some of their hearing
55 here. I've never experienced coil whine but is tinnitus a poor substitute? :)

I'm considering the 5080, but it will depend on price and performance. I tried upgrading from 3080 to 4080 Super back in March, but ended up RMA'ing it (along with 4 other parts) and sticking with my 3080 due to issues. Hopefully the release will coincide with a bonus from work to cover it. I'd also like to switch from my 4k monitors to some higher refresh rate (for 1 at least) 1440p monitors at some point next year.

I had a similar, but slightly opposite, conversation with my youngest. He has a decent headset that I won in a competition (I forget the exact model, but it was around £150 value), but he decided to ask my wife to get him a new headset for Christmas. He chose a cheap "gamer" headset (£15-20 generic brand from the rainforest) and seems to think it is going to be better than the one I gave him because it is "new". Wife bought it before I got chance to object and she didn't bother reading all the negative reviews it has.
Fully expecting him to be disappointed with the new headset, but try hide the disappointment for a bit to prove me wrong.

Think someone made a mistake with the thread title
“Whose going to get one - 5000 series”

Surely it should have been
“Whose going to get four - 5000 series”

Kaaps where are you ?

I am sitting on the fence. Don't particularly need it, but do want it. If Jensen does not go in too deep might sell my 4070Ti and go 5070 Ti.

Not too bothered tbh. Got so many games to play which would all play on my 4070Ti fine, not to mention a backlog on Steamdeck games.
