5080 is a 70 class card at 80 class pricing. They tried this last gen with the 4080 12GB, but at least they still had a proper 80 class card in the 16GB version. The 50 series doesn't have an 80 class card in my opinion. I doubt we'll even get a mid generation 5080 super. The 5080 is already using the full GB203 die and the 5090 is already a cut down GB202 die. Can't see them cutting it down further just to flll a gap in the product line up, unless they have a large number of defective dies.

To be honest, this seems to be a strategy from Nvidia at both ends. The 4060 was really what the 4050 should have been.

This entire generation just seems to be Nvidia losing interest in the gaming market but doing barely enough to hold onto things in case AI goes belly up.

im just so scared to press the buy button lol

I'd rather pickup a cheap 4080 or 4090 when some lucky sod upgradea to 5000 series. I'm not bothered about any of the fluffy new features on 5000 cards.

Quite frankly this piece of Technology is a staggering achievement.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090’s GPU die, known as GB202, has more than 92 billion transistors and roughly 33% more shaders than the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090. The RTX 5090 also has a wider 512-bit memory interface compared with the RTX 4090’s 384-bit interface, which connects to 32GB of GDDR7 RAM.

Amazing and I cant quite see why the reviewers are kind of moaning.

The 5080 is half the GPU:

The GPU’s transistor count stands at 45.6 billion on a 378 mm² die, reflecting NVIDIA’s engineering focus on maximizing efficiency and raw computational power.

with half the RAM etc but it is still a nice card.

ID get one if we all had the money to spaff and the games that need it

The reviewers aren't giving marks out of 10 for transistor count...

guys, who remembers the waiting list for the 30 series cards? I remember people posting "I was 1142 now im now 980 position in the que"

When I ordered my Amp Extreme I was position 850 but then I had to bow out after 3.5 months of waiting and only going down 200 positions in the que

I really really HOPE this is not a 30 series scenario for all the pre-order people who mostly is a large chunk of orders, it seems 5080 were a bit more available but they were sucked up by the people who were happy to pay 4090 prices

small number of 5090 buyers probably got them, what Nvidia was doing in the last 6 months I dont know, but it seems they were prioritising corporate demand over consumers

I dont think this world will have normality for a very long time, if you really think about it we are short on everything, from cars to houses and everything else, GPU's are just a part of it.

Im shocked at the number of people changing their mind from yes. Basically you were on the fence and it depended on the price/performance.

Unless looking at the 5090 or on a lower end 4000 series or AMD equivalent the 5080 is a bit of a pee take product imo, it doesn't bode well for the 5070ti which is likely going to be not much better than the 4070tiS.

I'm not invested in the AI powered MFG, the most interesting aspect of the DLSS updates are supported by the now previous gen anyway.

I'll be perusing the MM for a deal on a 4080 or 4080S instead of giving Nvidia my cash.

I was looking at the Zotac infinity 5090, but having seen the price I’m glad I didn’t sell my 4090
