I am still on the fence, however after these reviews and even more pricing insanity my 'sensible' side is saying that my Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 is still meeting my needs perfectly for 4K MS Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024!

I purchased it for £1800 in early Dec 2022 and I said to myself at the time that I may keep it for two generations given the price. Also, I still have two more years warranty on it (4yrs total with registration).

I'd 100% stick with that tbh

Anyone with a 4080 or more so with a 4090 should stick to them. The 5000 series makes no sense to buy if you own either. I would go so fare and claim that the 5000 series are for people on a 3080 or below.

I'm still on a 3090 and was seriously considering the 5080 (I game at 1440p so a 5090 would be massive overkill, plus £2k+ lol), however the reviews have confirmed what I was expecting, it's barely improved over the 4080 and losing 8gb of VRAM would be painful as I do occassionally play around with LLMs. Going to hold fire and hope they bring out a 5080 Ti/Super with 24GB of VRAM, at least...

Unfortunately, I've already committed, sold everything and been GPU-less for 2 months

Will be here 2pm tomorrow as I don't want to wait any longer. Also think that it is the best chance to get MSRP, considering the volatile nature of hardware prices (look at the 9800X3D).

Sticking with a yes - will try for a 5080. Same VRAM as my 6900XT, but better performance in raster and vastly superior RT performance (which now that games I want to play are getting it baked in, it's becoming a thing I need to be aware of).

*pout* my 4090 is no longer king of the hill. TBF it's still a cracking card and will probably be upgrading when the 8/9 series come out. No way the wife will accept me buying another GPU yet *crying* ;)
