ok, now im new to all of this, so please be gentle.
basically I have set up an old pc to act as a media and file server. all is going well, apart from my video streaming, but that has to wait until I get infinity.
now for the file server side, is there a way I can set a shared folder to have a size limit (so a user cant just fill up my hard drive)?

sorry if this is a newbie question, I did try to google but didn't really know what to search for, so most of my results came back with backups and stuff.

cheers in advance.

The size limit you're referring to is usually known as aquota. In server 2008 I'd usually set quotas up using FSRM (File Server Resource Manager), however in WHS 2011 I don't think there is FSRM. Perhaps you could create a partition in diskmgmt.msc and set the size of it to the size limit you have in mind.

Maybe there's another way to do it, but I've never played with WHS before.

ok, not sorted, I set a 15mb limit, but just copied a 600mb file into it :(

EDIT : nevermind, it failed to write to folder after upload due to not enough space. thought it would do it before it did the upload not at the end.

ok, so 2 more things (cant find much info on WHS2011)

1. is there any way when uploading via remote access page to increase the max file size of an upload from 2GB

2. is there any way to change the background picture (and/or text) on the web/remote access login screen (EDIT : managed to change the login screen, but how do I continue that theme once logged in)

cheers
