Hi all i have a couple of posts in the cpu\motherboard sections then found this one so i don't know if in here will be better if not mods please feel free to delete\move.
I have a WHS system running on an old gigabyte ga-7nnxp with a athlon xp2500M problem is it only has 2 sata ports and i have now filled them i was looking at adding a pci-4 port sata card but at the cost i thought it would be more economical to upgrade to a lower power cpu.
So the options i have are
1. pci- port sata card ,but with vail coming out i would need 64bit cpu
2. new m\b cpu combo , looking for recomendations here
3. Son has an Abit AN8 ultra with an Opteron 146 that i can have, don't know anything about this ?
Any help ?
Thanks
Robert

You could probably pick up a (generic) 4 port SiL3114/3124/3134 PCI-E/PCI SATA (RAID) card for a few £s off the bay which should be fine for WHS...

I'm a bit confused here.

I found a 2 port SATA PCI card for 6.49 new after a google

a 4 port for 14.99

I wouldn't worry about Veil just now either

How big are the HDD's in the WHS?

As the other guys have said, just go for a cheap SATA card for now as Vail is still well over a year away.
