Hello,

Got whs but i was wondering if there are any other server os that offer a remote access utility or are there any other apps that I could install onto windows server 2003/2008?

as bremen said, also depending on your hardware (i.e. if its an actual server) there are options there, HP's iLo and Dell's DRAC for example

I installed LogMeIn free on it. Works perfectly. You need to install it from a remote desktop session to the server though, not through it's standard console.

you can also use LogMeIn Hamachi as a vpn solution too but I've not tried this

Remote access from within your LAN or from outside?

From within? Just use VNC. Although tbh I never have and never will see a problem with RDC.

Sorry should have explained more. It is a hp desktop pc which I have put WHS onto it. I already have rdp setup on it. I really just use the web interface side of it so my father can upload pictures to my server and then other people can download stuff from my server. I really like the whs as it is so easy to use for my family who are not really computer literate. I have ftp setup on it to but trying to ask my family to use that will be a nightmare. What I was wondering is there any apps I can bolt onto server 2008 as I would like to learn 2008 to get a web interface where people can upload/download files. Or are there any other server operating systems like Linux that I can use on this machine?

Ok if your talking about about WHS v1 this runs on Win2003 back bone. But if your running VAIL (v2) then this runs on 2008.

Personally FTP is a good solution. On my server I have Filezilla server which is easy as pie to setup and is very light. It also can be administered off the server through a consol included.

You could also try CRM websites but that would involve getting IIS setup and doing a lot of administration. Which i dont think WHS can do?
