looking to build a WHS box soon and was wondering which size drive i should use for the operating system.

From what i have read, it partitions the system disk with C: and D: (D for data) and it only uses the D: partition on this disk when the data pool is full.

now im planning to use 2x1.5tb and a 1tb drive in the pool

if i was to use a 1tb as the system disk, i reckon there will be wasted unused space for quite a while, hence thinking off using a 500gb disk instead.

any thoughts? i believe the "Landing Zone" that was used on the system disk is now obsolete now.

Thanks

It doesn't waste any space, I would just clag it on the 1TB. Mine runs off 5x1Tb drives, and at least that way you do not need to upgrade the sytstem disc.

I'd say the 500 personaly.
Cant wait for Vail though when we can "remove" that pesky system disk from the data pool :D
