Bit of background, recently put together a HP microserver (as discussed here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18216324), 5gb ram, stack of 2tb drives waiting to go in... Just trying to get it to do a few of the things I need (raid, external backup) and making sure I have the config right before commiting all my data to it.
One hurdle I have encountered this evening is getting my FLAC's to play on the PS3 downstairs. The PS3 has no problem seeing the mp3's that are on the server but no sign of the FLAC's.
Quite happy for the server to transcode the data before sending to the PS3 (as the PS3 cant play Flac I guess it will need to). As another alternative I could encode to Mp3 at the same time the cds are turned into FLAC's, but I would need to run a batch process on the existing ones. Less keen on this option (same data stored twice)
Before I go wading in I though it worth asking, as I am sure that others have encountered this issue before and someone may have an elegant solution.
So, any ideas?
Thanks,
Sam
