Swapping my OS hard drive in my Htpc and trying to restore without an os but there are no network drivers available. Is there any way to preloaded these on the stick?

Ah I didn't know all I had to do was drop the driver files onto the stick just as they are. It's proceeding with restore now. Very handy tool this server.

I am having a further problem, how can I restore both the system reserved and os back to the drive? I can only select one or the other. And thus the computer will not boot

Seems I needed to create a partion. Hopefully this works

How was the backup taken? With Windows 7 (or later)? If so, you just fire up an new install of Windows as before but tell it you want to repair your PC and point to the image file. If it's a 3rd party tool like Acronis, you'll need the restore CD

From what I gather I don't need an os to be on the pc. But the pc cannot see the ssd as a bootable device. I have added the system reserved and os on separate partions, yet it does not boot.

Backup was taken by whs

Cannot get this to work at all. I've tried 3 time restore the data, getting no where

solved: for some reason whs restore didnt like more than one HDD being in the pc at the time of restore. once i removed the data drive it installed the system reserved and OS in one action and windows booted perfectly.

Now i know the exact process it looks like a 30 minute job to recover.

Relieved and happy. These things are only good if you like learning!
