Why all the hate for PS3?

That may be so, but the content that is paid for isn't even a competition - PSN just makes Live's games and content look embarassing. Apart from the masterpiece that is Halo, Live has absolutely nothing on PSN's games.

That said, this has to be the most vicious and drawn out console war on ocuk in a while. We should probably drop it and stick to our own console-specific threads. :p

Such a substantial rebuttal! I didn't even mention specifics, only a vague and easily counteractive point, which you still failed to retort to.

So what alternatives to Warhawk, Tekken 5 DR, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, as well as the PS1 classics does Live offer then? As far as I can see, just a bunch of decades-old games and second rate indie works (as much as it pains me to call Undertow that).

Bomberman Live > all PSN has to offer.
 
While Live is the better service generally, PSN is still fantastic for free and there are much better games on PSN than XBLA, with even more coming soon which is a nice plus.

I love my PS3, though Sony really do need a good kick as recently they have done nothing but treat their customers like crap. But we keep spending money, so they are happy!

Pixel Junk Monsters > Bomberman Live (and ive actually played both).

Fanboyism a side, PSN games are a hell of a lot better than XBLA, and tbh, I cant see why people would disagree with that! I just wish thier multiplayer services were as good.

Let people enjoy their consoles, they love a certain exclusive on their chosen machine then good, be happy for them, they prefer the functions and features on their machine, good, be happy for them, I just don't get this whole "I think my console is awesome so there for I will make everyone think it's awesome also, they will agree with me god dammit, it's important that they agree and think my console is awesome because it giz me powerzzz!!!1ONe!1!!!!!!!1111!!!", it's like people take personal offence or something when you make a critique about their machine, do people on here really feel that connected with their console ?, I'm not targeting anyone in particular but what is it ?, why do some of you guys get so defencive about your chosen console ?, sit back and scratch your head for a minute and actually think about why on earth your getting so worked up because someone on the Internet doesn't think your console awesome, it's madness,

It's like someone saying "may favourite artist is Claude Monet" and then replying to him/her by saying "OMG Claude Monet is sooo crap, Pablo Picasso > Claude Monet", yes, maybe in your world Piscasso owns Monet but that is not the case for the person in which you are replying to is it, people seem to have a distinct lack of respect for other peoples likes and dislikes these days, no appreciation for diversity in the market place, I mean what would happen if Sony went bankrupt, everyone (that's interested in the games industry) would be in a panic., take the recent announcement of FFXIII coming to the 360 for example, what was the response ?, "OMG YEAH, THE END FOR SONY !!!!!, YEAH BABY", seriously you have to chuckle at some of the responses, but why would any serious gamer want Sony out of the picture, and on the flip side why would any PS3 user want to deny the millions of 360 users the opportunity to play such an awesome game, personally I'm happy for them (waits for fanboy to post "I love how all the PS3 users are now seeing this in a positive light :rolleyes:"), look, I'm just trying to say relax a little, don't take an attack on your console of choice as a personal attack on yourself, it's just a piece of hardware at the end of the day.

Remember, we all have one thing common that goes beyond what console we prefer, and that's the fact that we're all passionate about games, and thats what this forum is predominately about.

I don't know about people hating the PS3, but it does seem that the hardcore 360 owners won't accept anything positive about PS3 and take every opportunity to mock every feature, update or lack of games. Yet, when the 360 gets something similar it's the best thing ever. Most of the people in here doing the trash talking don't even have a PS3 and are basing their arguments from what they read on the internet only.

People are just so against the PS3 in every respect it's ridiculous, yet if they don't own one, why should it be such an issue? Why is someone elses choice such a huge problem to them? Perhaps because they chose the other side?

The 360 did have 1080p capability out of the box (via VGA), it was the component output that they limited to 1080i, simply as this is the highest 'standard' it was designed for. The games could still be rendered at 1080p internally and the very odd one was.. It was only when 'some' TV's attempted to support 1080p over component that MS did a dash update to allow the 360 to output 1080p over component, but the reality is the bandwidth of the component connection is limited, and in many cases 1080p ends up looking soft..

The PS3 had HDMI out of the box, so 1080p was a given.

And on this subject, Sony still haven't fixed the PS3's scaling abilities, nor have they stopped the plain lying about the resolution of some of their games, most of the so called 1080p games are not rendered at the 1080 standard of 1920*1080, but usually half this, 960 * 1080 (Half the vertical resolution) which is less then 10% more resolution then 720p, totaly farce in anyones book..

There are no games of consequence that are true 1080p on either console, but the telling thing is, Sony do this quite underhand, deliberately misleading thing of claiming 1080p when it's actually only half the 1080p standard.

I always get the impression that the PS3's success is nothing to do with the technical merits of the console, it's all down to the marketing and the slightly mis-informed/gullible public who get suckered in by the '1080p' and the 'twice as powerful' spiel.. Then we have the constant false marketing of games, if they don't use blatant CGI, they show 'in-engine' trailers which are actually almost as misleading as CGI, or they just show the pre-rendered cut-scenes.. The other manufacurers do use the same tricks, but on a much smaller scale and I'd say, in response to Sony's constant BS. Everything is 'coming soon' or promised, and constantly it never arrives, or arrives so late, the consumer has already been mightily disappointed.

I know all manufacturers are unscrupulous, and untrustworthy, etc, but Sony, for me, stand out like a sore thumb with more blatant lies, mis representations and outright dirty marekting then all the competition put together, they really are hell bent on hoodwinking many, many people, and it seems to work. I know plenty of people with PS3's that have bought them thinking it's the next generation of console on from the 360, and being thoroughly disappointed and let down when the reality hits..
 
I've been playing a lot of my mates PS3 lately... and a lot of another mates XBOX 360

XBOX 360 is the better gaming console there's no doubt about it... a much better catalogue of games, a MUCH better controller (I even bought one for my PC I love it that much. I hate the PS3 controller, it's stone-age in comparison) and I prefer the smoother, cleaner graphics (imo). It also has much better MP capabilities as someone posted previously, meeting with friends and joining games is a slick and for the most part seamless experience.

The PS3 however is much more reliable, quieter, looks better... and is an awesome Blu-Ray player. It does have some good games but the selection is nowhere near as strong as the 360... I don't think anyone can really argue that. All they do is need to sort out the games catalogue and give it a decent controller and i'd be tempted to buy one.

I can tell you from my perspective that Sony where quite aggressive with their marketing from day 1, they promised a console twice as powerful with all the latest games, and lets not remember the "the next generation doesn't start until we say so". Now I know MS and Ninty have both retaliated at times, but you can't blaim them from responding to that sort of rubbish, but the reality is, I can think of 100 things Sony have said to undermine their competitors, but only a handful of things the competition have done..

The reality is, they where late to market, and only just 'match' the 360 on just about every front, seem to constantly under-deliver on their promises. Worse still, they have to resort to the worst of marketing techniques, showing what's up and coming, like LBP, GT5, like HOME etc, going on and on and on about it just to try and take some attention away from the competition, and then leaving consumers in the lurch for a couple of years.... How people can 'defend' that is beyond me.
MS show a new totally revamped wizzo dashboard etc, and low and behold it's scheduled just a few months away..
For many Ninty and MS manage peoples expectations correctly, and in suitable timescales.

I don't think any negativity to the PS3 is totally unjustified, when you hail yourself as more significant then the second coming of Christ, with the reality you are just a regular joe, you bring a lot of the flak on yourself.

Well i hate the xbox 360 controller and don't find many of their games interesting. Only thing i thought of buying one for was Gears of War and now i've gone off it. Plus there's nothing wrong with PS3's graphics.. They are indeed higher in detail and more colourful.

PS3 Owns all. :)
