Why are 2560 monitors soooo expensive??

I was thinking about goin higher res than 1080p until I saw the prices!!

Is this "new" technology? Is that why it's so costly? Or simply thought of as a high end/premium market?

IPS panels are expensive, the technology is quite old, but its the best money can buy for the home environment atm.

It has to do with IPS as Razargh as stated. I use a 24" NEC 2490wuxi2 (1920x1200) and it was $650 which is really a steal for what you get. Once you go IPS you won't ever go back. Everything looks excellent.

Small market, high prices.
And they're indeed all IPS panels which tend to be more expensive than TN-panels you find in most other monitors.
