Why are Evri are so absolutely abysmal?

I've got three separate shipments being sent to me from different places and all are in limbo. This being the last tracking info.

Mountain Warehouse order:

14:15 - Mon Sep 05
We're processing your parcel at our hub

Gooutdoors order 1:

12:34 - Thu Sep 08
We're sorry, your parcel has been delayed. We're working to get it on its way on the next working day and we'll let you know once it's out for delivery

Gooutdoors order 2 (customer services declared this "lost" and sent a replacement out which is yet to be received):

20:29 - Fri Sep 02
We're processing your parcel at our hub

Why do companies use this shambles of a company? At the very least they could offer the customer a choice of what delivery company to use.

Because they are cheap. The people who penny pinch at company’s are not people dealing with Evri and others couriers day to day. Unless they cost the sending company more then the savings then they will still use them.

I've got one missing currently, apparently the company usually use RM but because of the strikes decided on Evri, and yeah...
The tracking is interesting, they seem to have lost it twice already ('major delay') and last known sighting was it was out for delivery last Friday between 1-3 and it still is. If it ever turns up I won't accept it as it's probably been all over the country and kicked around a van for a week by a neanderthal who doesn't give a ****.
If I'd known the company were going to use them I would have bought elsewhere.

I've had no significant problems with them though the only issue is I seem to get a general email
indicating that it's not yet out for delivery, only to suddenly receive it with no tracking update.

Recently had a delivery that came via Evri after their rebrand and took me a while to realise they are Hermes. The delivery was fine, no issues, but they have sent me an email every day asking for feedback....

They do, both of them offer alternative shipping, the first one even has DPD. Why didn't you pick that?

Everyone moans about the cheapest delivery company... and then picks the cheapest delivery company.

I'll be honest, I've never had a problem. But I know that now I've said that I'm going to get the next 5 thing delivered to the wrong address or get lost :D

The issue is that customers aren't willing to spend much on delivery. So companies have to use the cheapest courier. Cheap comes with a price.

Local self-employed girl does the Evri deliveries around here and she isn't a problem, but not uncommon stuff is delayed a day or more before it gets to her. Personally try to avoid certain delivery companies but don't always have a choice.

Aye, evri/hermes local people don't tend to be the issue, it's the sorting hubs where stuff goes in and either never comes out of, or appears like magic one day, usually months later.

Last year both myself and my neighbour had deliveries from Hermes that arrived months after the replacements had been sent (and received) via other methods.

I work in the logistics/distribution industry and theft and loss at distribution centres we deal with has seen a mind boggling increase this year yet there doesn't seem to be any interest in tackling it. One retailer has had its normal entire peak trading losses (when you've got a lot of Christmas temps, etc. in the mix) almost every week of this year! and yet it just continues as if they can't do anything about it. I really don't understand it as it can't be cheaper to write it off than tackle it.

It isn't just Evri. It is most large companies now. The constant incompetence by everyone and everything is seemingly getting worse by the day,

Everything is going down the ******

It seems to have gone dramatically worse this year, I'm not sure why, it is like a whole raft of the population suddenly decided they can't be bothered any more.

Funny this thread popped up. I had a nessage at 2.34 this morning. Failed attempt at delivering your parcel.

No ****. I was in bed.

Needless to say I blocked the number as I have no parcel expected to be delivered. Scam number I will assume with a link.

I've had no issues with Hermes/Evri over the last couple of years but I sent a router a couple of weeks ago and it was tracked up to the the delivery depot and then no updates after that. I raised a ticket asking where it was and 4 days later I got a response saying a query has been raised with the delivery depot. I don't have much hope of the router being found and have had to refund the buyer.
