why are magic mushrooms illegal

ALL drugs that cause hallucinations of any type can trigger a variety of mental disorders, as well as there being a much much increased risk of serious unexpected side effects.

WooooHoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

The law is irrelevant anyway - if I want mushrooms, I will have them. If the people want mushrooms, they will have them. We have never let a piece of useless legislature written by some faceless goon behind a darkened London office desk dictate what we can and can't do.

Deal with it, as you have done for the last few decades.

They can trigger mental disorders that a person has a potential for already, but they can't generate psychoses that aren't already present. Anybody with extensive experience of drugs can tell you this.

Your in danger of presenting a circular argument, you cannot prove the above to be the case as you cannot in anyway be 100% sure that mr/mrs xyz did or did not have a mental issue before they took drugs. An argument from experience I'm afraid is only sufficient to support an opinion rather than state a fact.

think this is a the right place to put this as it will reach intelligent people cern cannot measure a illusion

Four of my friends I grew up with have been sectioned at some point. Three are ok now, and one is not. They have been sectioned for coming up to 20 years now.

Two, including the one that still is, took to much amphetamine. One smoked too much weed. The other one did too much LSD.

The only thing in common with all four of these people is that they are highly intelligent, or at least well above average. The one who is still sectioned was going to Oxford the following year. He also did a lot of mushrooms, but it was his addiction to amphetamines that got him.

All intoxicants are bad, it very much depends on the individual. I have many friends that still take drugs recreationally all the time and hold down massively well paid jobs in the city. Another runs their own successful fashion house and they take ketamine nearly every weekend. These are people in their mid-thirties who have been taking drugs since their teens.

You just cannot tell.

I thought the main reason for it being so high in the ratings was to try and prevent people killing themselves by eating the wrong ones.

This is exactly why I don't want to go anywhere near the stuff.

Some people can take it every now and then and not get addicted.

I don't know about myself.

I know two blokes who did a few too many mushrooms, and ended up needing professional psychological help - one was sectioned. You have to ask yourself if it's worth it ?

Whatever happened to common sense? And giving the people the freedom to use it. They only cause problems if abused, like pretty much every substance on the planet. I don't see a reason for them to be banned.

Idd. I have a cousin in Ireland who got into drugs, moved onto heroin and ended up in a home. The result of that is my entire family is "OMG DRUGS WILL DESTROY ALL".

Mushrooms for me are about the entire journey (yes it may sound lame to idiots who just get high), but that lack is respect for substances is why most of it is banned.
