why are magic mushrooms illegal

Does anyone else want a direct democracy so we can get rid of stupid laws like this?

erm sorry you do realise that most people would vote to keep them banned cause they think their evil etc.

Heck direct democracy would equal lots of new things being banned.

indeed they would tefal but where do they get these ideas of them being evil from ?

Because taking acid or mushrooms gives you an 8 hour "trip" depending on how strong is it you could do anything stupid, my mate once tried jumping of a bridge in Reading town centre thinking it was funny then the idiot phoned MY parents house afer he got arrested, i was digusted.

Another friend of mine took shrooms, went down to the garage in his socks and pants and just stared at the bloke behind the counter for 20 mins before being arrested.

Not funny stuff, trust me your laugh when your trip starts but cry if it goes bad.

The only solution I propose is DESTROYING EVERYONE APART FROM GD POSTERS.

Yeah you are probably right, it's just a shame that this country has so many stupid people and where do these people get "it's evil" from?

I don't know, why is marijuana illegal?

I have been told it was made illegal because of something to do with foreign trade.
Don't know how true it is but i was told one country refused to trade with us unless it was made illegal, cant remember which country it was to be honest. apparently queen victoria was a big advocate of the weed claiming it was the only thing that could dull the pain of childbirth.

Because making most drugs illegal exposes their users to vastly more negative effects and so they become a very bad representation.

If you could buy them at a store for a reasonable price then the users wouldn't end up involved in other things and occasional getting ****ed up and becoming basically a late night informational on the evils of drugs.

yet people can quite happly drink 10 pints go out and hit someone due to the effects of the alcohol and yet alcohol is still 100% legal.

Are you not thinking of the opium wars with china?

There are lots of theories, some that it conflicted with the alcohol trade, another that the invention of a "combine harvester" equivalent machine for hemp would have destroyed the cotton industry when it was still a major player in the worlds politics

I once took mushrooms and walked up table mountain and watched a solar eclipse. Was the most spiritual experience of my life.

We arrived at the base of the mountain at about 23:30 or 12 and took 2 grams of dried psilocybe cubensis. There was me two friends and a german guy called sven. The solar eclipse was scheduled for 8-10am. So we had a lot of time to get up there. We walked slowly stopping a long the way to smoke some bongs and enjoy the view.

We reached the top at around 6 or 7 am and sat there blowing our heads off at the views. We had a tiny tinfoil piece from a coffee lid that we were using to look at the sun with. We watched as the moon passed in front of the sun.

legal to pick!!! but illegal to either sell or consume

Wrong.

It used to be only an offence to prepare or dry them. In 2005 the legislation (Misuse of Drugs Act 1971) was amended to include posession of fresh mushrooms. So you cannot possess them full stop.

As to the OP - bear in mind in 2008 the Government of the Netherlands announced they were going to ban them in the Netherlands. They're fairly lenient with regards to Drug use - if the Dutch consider them to be harmful then I would suggest there is a risk to health.

mushrooms have never killed anyone or made anyone insane

I once lived with a guy who spent 3 months in a mental health institute after having an episode from taking too many mushrooms.

I knew him a bit before I offered him a room as we were one short of paying the rent and he had lost his accommodation. His personality had changed and he was extremely paranoid all the time. Would go over the top apologising for the slightest thing.

So I am afraid i would have to disagree with the second premise in your statement.
