Why Are My Fans Speeding Up and Making More Noise?

Everything fine with system I built about a month ago but all of a sudden I'm aware of the noise of the case fans and their increasing speed. I'm thinking that its probably dust on the fans as I live in an old dusty house. Intending to open the case and clean all the fans today, any suggestions before I do??

Its more than likely your system spinning the fans up due to the extra dust

Aye, it could be dust starting to block an air inlet/heatsink/filter etc

(if your case has a filter check that first, mine tends to require a good clean once every couple of months).

For some reason one of my programmes was running in the background - stopped that and problem solved.
Still going to clean out the dust though!!
