Why are my idel volts higher than my load volts?

As per per title?

Idle volts: 1.376v (CPU-Z & HWiNFO32)

Load volts: 1.312v

What would you class as good temps on these sandybridge's.

Am i looking at under 70c load or 80c load?

i can do

4.4GHz @ 1.264v load temps around 68-72c
4.6GHz @ 1.320v load temps around 78-82c
4.8GHz @ 1.392v load temps around 80-85c

This is with fans set on there lowest speeds, i can speed them up to bring temps down 5-6c but prefer a quite system.

Called Vdroop, intel deliberately does it by design. I'm not entirely sure why, presumably to reduce power at full load, but if it's stable at a lower V at full load why not use the same V at idle?

0.06V is fairly bad, it can vary depending on board and chip used, some boards have a setting in the bios to stop it, others can be modified but you're probably stuck with it.

Thats just silly, why reduce power when you need it. Should be the opposite surely?
 
Hmm after reading a bit it's to protect the core, going from idle to load suddenly can cause a voltage spike, vdroop is to stop it causing damage. I think also the same voltage can be more damaging under load.

What motherboard are you using?
 
I don't know the board personally but like i say you might be able to find a setting in the BIOS to disable vdroop (check the manual). At the same time it is there for a reason, but higher quality boards (with better pwms) should have less voltage spike when going to load so don't need so much vdroop.

You've got a pretty good overclock with safe voltages, so as long as it's stable and the temps are safe i'd be happy.

Personally I'd stick at 4.4GHz, 80 is a bit toasty really. You're getting less than 10% more performance for 0.13V increase, using this equation:

your power consumption will be roughly 32% higher.
