Why are there no British soaps about the middle classes?

Unless there are but I missed it? But "Corrie" (shudder) and Eastenders don't exactly cover anyone but the working class. Often short dramas (3 parters) or comedies cover the middle class, but not soaps.

I wonder if it is down to things like scope and budget. It would be quite hard to represent an office setting with budget such as they'd have per episode of Eastenders *guesses*.

Maybe it would just be boring!

Thoughts?

hollyoaks

everyone is either a posh student or owns their own club/shop/pub/restuarant and doesnt live in the real world just like the middle class dont. infact does anyone on there have a proper job ?

I wouldn't put those jobs in the middle class category.

Where are the office workers, commuters etc.. Everything (that I can think of) usually end up being comedies.
