So, the other week, my internet speed more than doubles from about 45kb/s to 120. This was good, now however, in the last couple of days it has shrunk to about 10/15.... This is not so good...... I live in the sticks so i dont expect it to be super fast but come on BT... I may have well stuck with dial up, wouldnt have cost me so much for so little.

One thing that confuses me though, why on the BT speed tester thingy-ma-jig do i get:

"Download speed achieved during the test was - 99 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-250 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :960 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps
"

Yet on speedtest.net i get:

Does this mean somethig my end is slowing it down or something?

IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps

This is your issue, basically your line could not withstand connecting at such a 'high' speed. Mine use to do this and it would just re-connect at slow speeds but sometimes it just disconnects too much and drops the profile.

Your IP profile has dropped, for it to go back up you need to stay connected for roughly 3 days with a solid connection. I asked my ISP to switch me to a fixed line rather than an 'up to' package.

Check your router, if it's been at a solid connection with no drop-outs or disconnects for a few days the IP profile raises to near what it is sync'ing at.

Something caused the profile to drop, maybe a sudden burst of noise from an unknown source.

You should plug the router into the test socket and post the stats.
