Guys,

I'm running 2 x 160GB IDE Maxtor drives on a PCI RAID controller card. Ive got an array set up and working on it. I'm changing the machine to run the Clarkconnect distro, which installs and runs fine.

The thing is, when i'm partitioning the HDD's - the utility is able to see both 160Gb drives attached to the RAID array. It gives me the option to set up a software RAID array, but i'd like it to be soley handled by the hardware.

Shouldnt it just detect the array as one drive?

Sounds like it's a software based raid controller. in Windows the drivers would handle it so that Windows only sees one drive, but anything else will be using more generic drivers that won't read the array. You might be able to get more specific drivers for your distribution, but if it's anything like promise I wouldn't hold your breath.

It is a promise controller, lol. Okey doke, thought that it was all handled on the card, obviously not. Tanks for clearing that up mate! :)
