Why can't I get full utilization out of my system in VR?

Playing AC, ACC, or AMS2, none of these can get like above 75% usage out of my GPU. I know CPU's are wonky to tell what they are up to, but it doesn't seem pinned either?

7800X3D
rtx4080
quest2
6k/30cl

At the settings I'm at right now, with the quest 2 slider at like 75% and the individual games running at about 1.5x super sampling, I'm getting like 60-72 FPS

And I just loaded up Doom: Eternal to make sure on a normal screen the GPU is doing work, and seems to work fine, can get 100% out of the gpu maxing out 280 hz monitor. IDK

What refresh rate is your Quest 2 set at? If it's 72Hz and the game in vr has no problem reaching that, it won't utilize your gpu fully as it caps the fps to 72. Although that won't explain if it's 60.
If ASW is kicking in it may not use your gpu fully, maybe try disabling it.

It's maxed out I just settled on these settings. If I try to move the super sampling up more to say like 1.9x(I'm not sure where it is atm) it'll fall to 36 fps

It's just weird, like there's a bottleneck I can't figure out. Afterburner says the GPU isn't even trying and sometimes a CPU core will go to like 58% but generally they all just say like 35%

Don't get me wrong, the games look great. AMS2 in particular, at times you think you're really driving a car. And with how far wheel technology has come in the last few years, with these wheels fighting you with like 15 pounds of force, it's quite an experience. I just hate feeling like I'm leaving performance at the table

As tyke mentioned if ASW is kicking in because your system can’t achieve 90fps fully then it’ll just run at 45fps whatever you’ve set the sliders to

Man, you guys were onto something. I had meant to play with that stuff a few times but for some reason I'd forget or have a quick look and I thought it was called something else. I turned it off and it let me turn the slider up quite a bit with no FPS loss, assetto corsa and AMS2 look crystal clear now - relatively speaking, anyways. And most importantly, the GPU is actually being used at 90%+

side note: EA should be ashamed of themselves, I refunded F1 2023 because it was unplayably blurry, even with the settings maxed. These small foreign studios' efforts are so much better
