The wife wants to watch ITV Catch Up in bed on my Pismo (MacBook C2D) and I want to replace my PC in the Media Room with a Mac Mini but there is one real big problem in my way: Microsoft Silverlight.

It is installed but won't play any videos. You click on it to play and it just sits there with a dumb expression on its face saying "Select Video to play"

I cannot see any way of reinstalling it as I cannot find out how to remove it. Seeing as both Firefox and Safari do the same thing it isn't a Safari problem.

I could use VMWare Fusion to solve the problem (especially on the Mac Mini as I'd need VMWare for 4OD) but I'll be cold in my grave (or divorced :p ) before I abuse my little baby with Windows.

Google isn't helping so I must turn to the Mac experts on OCUK. Help me save my marriage! :D

System Requirements:

Mac OS 10.4.8+ (PowerPC) PowerPC G4 800-MHz or higher processor with 128-MB of RAM

Mac OS 10.4.8+ (Intel-based) Intel Core Duo 1.83-gigahertz (GHz) or higher processor with 128-MB of RAM

From reading I take it you have just a MacBook?

1. Make sure Mac OS X is up-to-date (Apple > Software Update...)

2. Close all browsers

3. Follow the instructions here, baring in mind the Library folder it refers to is the one in the root of your Hard Disk (ie. click on the Macintosh HD icon in the sidebar in Finder, and the Library folder there :) ).

4. Also delete *Home Directory*/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Silverlight

5. Empty the trash (Mac OS X has a tendency to follow files...sometimes useful, sometimes not)

6. Restart

7. Download Silverlight again from here

8. Close all browsers

9. Install Silverlight

10. See if it works!

I'll try that when I get home - thanks. I have a C2D MacBook that I call Pismo forgetting that this may confuse people. D'oh! (See above!)
