Why can't I get the repair option?

I mean this:-

1.

When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.

2.

Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.

3.

Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.

4.

In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.

5.

Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.

6.

Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

It should give the option to install or repair at point 5. but I am not getting the option.

if you dont get the repair option the windows (setup) can not find a valid OS.

This wil happen if:

1. your repairing an XP home installation with an XP pro disk and vsa versa

2. your installation is "that" corrupt.

my advice, backup and reinstall install... format.

2. It can't be that corrupt as I am using it now :) Although setup might still it is that corrupt ofc.

No way around it then?

I reckon that a system file has changed or got corrupt stoping the xp repair wroking.

sorry not much help

Can you boot into windows?

If so then go to Start > Run and type in "SFC /scannow"

Then try and access the repair option.

Good luck :)

I may be wrong, but as far as I am aware, there is no such thing as "XP Pro Corp" and I would put money on this being a pirated version.
