Why can't i overclock to 4.6+ with my I5?

I have an I5 3570k and just got a new CPU cooler, so when i overclock to 4.0 i have like 50c which is cooler than the 103c i had before lol not overclocked, But i see people with this CPU have it clocked to 4.6+ but when i try to do this i crash and restart?

I'm using the Asrock extreme tuner to OC it and it should do the volts auto?

You need to do a manual overclock.

Read this and come back. But remember, not all CPU's do 4.6ghz.

I wonder if auto boost is ever able to achieve 4.6? or is this always manual oc territory.

Automated software always over volts, leading to higher temperatures and potential instability. To get the most out of a chip you need to manually set the volts and fine tune to reach a stable maximum.

Also remember not all processors are created equally! Some can overclock like crazy, some cant overclock at all hardly. Its the luck of the draw.

My experience with auto overclock software is the same as Qitarah. The usually put the volts right up further than they need to be. Manual OCing can be frustrating but very satisfying when you get it right!

It's totally a silicon lottery, lucky guys even got 4.8GHz+ for 3570K

Whereas I can't get my 2500K past 4.4!
