Why can't I play .dvr-ms files on my MCE box ???

Hi,

very strange but I can't play a file I just recorded on my MCE box. It plays fine within MCE but using Media player 9 or media player classic brings up errors about not having the right codecs.

Any ideas ?

Plays fine on my other PC's.

oh error message is:

this pin cannot use the supplied media type

I have a similar problem, but my problem is that I can't play the file on another PC. I think it's something to do with MCE encrypting the file.

Should work without trouble - as you say, it works on other PCs. You say Media Player 9 - do you mean Media Player 10? I'm fairly sure MCE requires WMP 10 to function.

If it is indeed 9, that may be the problem.

hmm must be version 10 in that case.

did a google last night and it might be directx / soundcard drive issue.

i'm sure i've seen a tool before on thegreenbutton website that converts this video to mpeg

There is one. But the fact still remains that it should play perfectly well in WMP.
