Why cant i run Battlefield 3 at ultra?

My system specs are:

Gigabyte UD7 mobo
i7 930
2 x HD 6950 toxics
8Gb DDR3 1800mhz ram
120gb corsair force gt ssd
500gb raptor drive (installed on here)
1200w corsair HX 1050 PSU


So I don't understand why i cant max this game? is it because the game may not be optimised yet? (hope so)

Also.. tell us a little about your system, has it been overclocked ?


Also note: There seem to be some stuttering issues going on with SLI/Crossfire on BF3 at present for some users.

Yeah just stuttering here and there and not a constant smooth frame rate, im a bit bummed really as i though my rig would handle it. And no my system has not been OC'd. I shall try to see the results when crossfire is turned off.

No real bottle necks that BF3 would see, have you updated the SSD?

May be worth a fresh install to rule out software.

Try OC as well, perhaps the higher clock speed will offset any poor performance?

Yes, it can be with any dual gpu configuration. Apparently adding a third gpu more or less irons it out, though that isn't always necessarily the best course of action for various reasons.
