Why can't people understand roadworks?

Nah if the lanes are directional then its a different story, thats just nobbish.

It works the other way around too, there's a few dual carriageway type roads around here that are a few hundred yards long with roundabouts and directional lanes at the end. It really pees me off when someone pootles along at 30 in the right hand lane all the way down because they're turning right at the end...
Yeah that ****es me off as well haha. Taking a right turn half way down a dual carriageway DOES NOT mean you can sit in the right lane at 30 - 40mph for 5 mins!

Got one of these near me, if they do that I just sit and sound my horn constantly, some of the other people look at ME as like they don't think they've done anything wrong.
While it is annoying when people take liberties with rights of way, it is sometimes just polite to let some traffic through even if you have the right of way. It's like sitting trying to come out of a junction into traffic, you expect people to let you out even though they have right of way, so why not with these signs? I don't mean every time, but if you see a large tailback then it is obvious that they have been sitting there for ages trying to get through.. so why not help them out? ;)

They're all coming out now :D

I'm with you on queue jumpers, people who don't give way at traffic calming, and people who turning right on dual carriageways.

I'll add another one too, people who don't indicate when turning left at a roundabout. I'm sat here giving way to you when I could have gone, you tit.

Yes, that ones a good one

Pet peeves thread....

My worst one is people on motorways/dual carriageways who will be going along at 70 in the inside lane and come up to a lorry doing 60. Instead of seeing it coming and overtaking properly, they will slow down to 60 a few feet from the back bumper. Then, when I'm overtaking properly, they will decide (without indication) that they want to pass the slower moving vehicle and pull out right in front of me

Oooh, people who don't accelerate on slip roads. Your merging with traffic doing 70mph, why are you trying to do it at 40mph?

Had a silly bint, near enough stop today on the slip, fortunately traffic was only going 50-60mph.

I just pull into the narrow part and make them reverse!

been there done that, had some stupid cow pull in front of me and flash me, i just pointed at the sign and never moved, she soon saw sense and reversed, stupid cow.

See a nice one this morning on the A421/A6 junction , merge in turn sign at the roadworks and some muppet slams on the anchors at the end of the slip road and causes a 3 car fender bender. As we went passed they looked to be busy blaming each other.

A truck driver pulled out to block both lanes the other day when I was approaching roadworks...

Had the same thing happen to me in Reading a few weeks back, nearly took the front of the car out. Driver was giving it abuse like I was in the wrong for using the lane

Thing is though because people weren't using both lanes the traffic was building up on the roundabout creating a jam for people trying to use other exits.

People who call an overtaking lane the 'middle lane' and the people who use said 'middle lane' when there is nobody in the 1st lane, thereby forcing other road users to come out of the first lane to overtake them in the 2nd lane by using the 3rd lane.

On the M25, the outside lane is the driving lane, the middle lane is the "moving over to let someone past (eventually) lane" and the inside lane is the lorry lane (or "ere be dragons")

Passing on the left should not be illegal for this reason.

So few people seem to understand merge in turn.

With regards to people driving in the middle lane, if the motorway is empty apart from a car in the middle lane, and I'm catching up in the first lane, can I go past without moving out?

Is this counted as "passing on the left" and legal? I would have thought "undertaking" would be coming up behind a car, moving left, going past, then moving right again.

I get angry when people do stupid things on the road. Mostly slow sliproad usage, driving too slowly and bad lane discipline.

is there really a difference between passing on the left and undertaking though? :p

if there's some fool dawdling in the middle lane and i'm in the 'slow' lane, i pull out behind them, then pull back while indicating, cutting them up in the process.
having said that, if the motorway is empty i might be found in the middle lane, but only if the slow lane is rutted and uncomfortable. having said that, i never cruise at 70, so i'm not usually a nuisance ;)

This is it, I'm trying to work it out. I usually try and move out round them if I can.

Say all lanes are moving slower than the "slow" lane which I am in. Can I go faster than the other lanes?
