i was sleeping and it woke me up as the graphics cards fans went full speed for a few seconds before it came back on

it was in sleep mode, but i find it a bit odd because i dont think my other computer did this when it went in sleep mode. are there any options to turn it off or anything?

almost **** myself because didnt know what was going on lol

How about a usb item that has/had some power in it/left in it - and the jolt from that started it up.

I sometimes put a usb item in and it starts the comp up from standby.

That...or yeah it could be the i7 ghost.

:D

i dont have anything on timer, i did get an email around about that time would that have done it?

that and i just got out of one of the worst sleep paralysis episodes i have had in a long time

i really dont think i want to go back to sleep now :(

What do you mean m8?

You mean you had a nightmare ?

If you don't suffer from Sleep Paralysis, thank whatever deity you worship. Then thank him again. Then sacrifice those you hold dear to them. Seriously.

Sleep Paralysis is the worst thing in the world. You wake up, but you can't move, see, speak or anything. It's terrifying.

crikey, that sounds scary mate, hope your ok.

on a lighter note, maybe your pc has become self aware? hehe, maybe its trying to take over the world!... or maybe its random segments of code.....

Sleep paralysis is nasty! I came to the conclusion that it's basically dreaming that you are awake, but as you're not you are unable to actually be able to do anything. You can often see, or at least think you can, and a lot of people imagine a dark presence near them, or even on the chest.

It's the not being able to move which is the worst! Even lift a finger or blink your eyes. Two main ways out of it are to manage to force yourself to move a little or to fall back asleep properly and then wake up normally later.

Perhaps a spike in your electricity or a very brief outage? In a similar fashion to the way a pc will fire up for a few seconds when the power cable is put back in, I have had it do something similar after a power outage. Not long enough to reset clocks but just long enough to make the lights flash and trigger other items.

Happened to me a few times too, turned out it was AVG trying to scan, though god alone knows how AVG has the power to wake the PC form sleep.

The fans from 2 4870s going full tilt at 4am are enough to wake the devil.

Yeah it's amazing what noise you tolerate when you have a gaming headset on and the tv going. Once your ears adjust to 3am levels with zero sounds it really is no fun having the pc come on. Must be even worse if you have sleep paralysis and can't get to the pc to shut it down lol.
