Why do Apple monitors look so good?

Friend of mine just purchased a new apple computer, paid around £1500 for it and I know apple computers are over priced but the 27" screen looks gorgeous in terms of colour and what not, are they special monitors equivalent of some of the more expensive screens ocuk sell?

Sorry for not using any of the correct terms.

Depends what you value more, colour/image reproduction quality or faster response times(extremely helpful for gaming).

I can't pull myself away from Dell screens personally, so i'm IPS or VA all the way, i can't bear looking at TN panels anymore(i'm a gamer, i just value the image quality of the IPS/VA panels too much to give it up).

Those apple monitors do look awesome with the glossy front and the aluminium back. The new iMac has a 5k display which, image wise, is probably better than just about anything you can buy on PC just now!

As others have said a glossy panel looks good in the right setting but can cause annoying reflections if you have a window or light source behind you. There are plenty of 4k monitors available on OCUK that would look just as good but most come with matt anti-glare coatings rather than glossy though.

I agree I use a 27" Thunderbolt display at work and it's gorgeous, but it's so reflective that it's as good as a mirror when it's off.

Soon as you add any anti-glare you're going to loose that apple "pop"
