Why is it in this day and age that a large proportion of primary and secondary schools are controlled by various churches?

And just for contrast. I went to a catholic primary and secondary school and was never told or taught to not fraternise with non catholics. It’s madness. There are schools here with two entrances, two sets of teachers, two of everything, but in the one building. One for Catholics and one for everyone else. Kids are generally taught they are different to the other side, and they shouldn’t fraternise with them.
And people wonder why there’s sectarian violence every weekend…

Yea, the West Coast of Scotland is pretty unique for it tbh. I moved from the East coast for university and it was friends and partners who grew up on the West coast that told me about it.And just for contrast. We can but hopeWhat are you talking about? Do you think that religion is ever going anywhere?

Because anyone can set up a school, and the churches have been successful at doing it for years? Probably because of all the money they have to fund them. The law only requires that children receive 'an education', whether at home or otherwise. There's no real specificity as to what comprises education or who provides it; whether for state-run, church-run, home-run or otherwise. Faith schools have been a thing for donkeys' years. Why is it in this day and age that a large proportion of primary and secondary schools are controlled by various churches?
With COE and Catholic schools it's often because they were originally founded and funded by the churches and their congregations, and the government has never forced them to sperate, then when the government started the Academies basically anyone could start a school. Why is it in this day and age that a large proportion of primary and secondary schools are controlled by various churches?

Yes, the witch trials in the 15th century made things a much better place. But where would we be without the influence of the Church. I'm generally all for the Church and it's influence. People love to complain and hate but as I said I think we would be a much worse place without their help.
