Seriously gets on my nerves.

Dell put loads of backup trash on your laptop with Mac like Toolbars etc.

Dad had to buy a new laptop. i made him go HP (i even payed extra so he could have it)

Got him an i3 4GB 500GB.

But soon as i login to programs & features there are 100 odd crap programs.

like Powerdirector photo2 go etc.

why cant they let you choose on login bundled software or no bundled?

:(

Rant Over.

My grandad got a HP laptop, I did a fresh re-install from my retail disc straight away, the amount of crap on there was unreal. Made the boot times hellishly slow, and serves no real purpose to anyone!

My Dell laptop did come with some stuff but actually it wasn't that bad at all.

Thats why its best to ditch the installed OS and make your own installation disk without the crap using a virgin MS ISO and adding your own very necessay Dell/ Hp or whatever Slics/serial etc. All very easy

Always always rebuild an OEM system from clean OEM Media. Never use it out of the box in my opinion.

No crap
Fresh up to date drivers
You know how everything is configured

I bought a Y460 laptop in Thailand from a HUGE HUGE IT Chain. I mean...on par with our huge chains in the UK. It came with an illegal copy of Windows 7 Ultimate on (!), Illegal copy of Office 2007 Enterprise (!) and millions of other apps/utilities. Either it came direct from Lenovo like that (highly unlikely) or they put it on. Crap I can understand, but an illegal OS? From a huge chain? Unreal.

cant be bothered to reinstall, deleted most gunna make new user account then it wontr load the crap on it. & turn the crap one into Admin. other to standard user

Yep you do get a lot of crap on new systems like this. I tend to use a mixture of msconfig to stop it starting up or just removing any programs entireally if not going to be used.

not on this, on HP you got make the disc yourself using the recovery partition

stupid idea really. but increases there profits i surpose

i got an advent laptop for xmas and it wouldn't even let me boot to the desktop without first choosing to install either works or a trial of office. there was no way i could see of skipping this process. so of course i just zapped the lot with a clean windows install. lucky i already had a USB key setup to install windows 7 from.

Because the software companies pay HP/Dell to preinstall their software. It keeps the price of the PC down. If you wanted a system without crapware, they'd probably charge you more. Easier just to uninstall it all or wipe the OS...

Tell me about it. Just got home from setting up a new HP laptop for my mum's friend.

Absolutely full of pointless ****. Including Norton ffs. Takes almost 3 minutes to finish loading up all the nonsense which is ridiculous. I know for a fact if I installed a clean copy of Windows 7 it would boot in a minute.

Why don't they work on trying to optimize and speed up the operating system instead of bloating it up and making it as slow as possible. I just don't understand?

As I say - it's all about money. They know that anyone with any computer knowledge will just remove it, and anyone who doesn't know enough to remove it probably won't care about it..

Ah yes. Agreed. I just feel sorry for the non-computer savvy people having to put up with it. :(

I sent toshiba i think it was a polite email telling them that i do not understand the logic behind install all the software.

1) it slows down the pc excessively.
2) no one uses the software
3) often they are not very useful
4) it is not worth their time and money to make the software because of the above.

But they are all the same, hp are pretty bad at it. One HP laptop had atleast 20 bits of software in programs and features labelled hp. I think they all just make it because the competition makes it and they don't realize that no one uses it and gets annoyed by it.

I don't even let them reach the first boot any more

Dell are the best for not overloading with junk
