So I have a delivery coming from Hermes / evri a 1 day delivery, Tracking says on 31st Dec on the way to local courier, it did not turn up, no suprise because the very nice lady that delivers to me, told me the day before she was taking new years eve off! so next ebay tracking delails say 'Delayed held due to bad weather' then the next says 'Delay due to major event' lol there has been no bad weather between the depot thats about 5 miles from my house or any Delay due to a major event lmfao, in reality the delivery agent took the day off and they could not find anyone else willing to do the round on top of their own!

I too have a weather delayed parcel from Evri, it’s been fine in the midlands so clearly just a lie.

Waiting on stuff that's marked as delayed by weather which I could believe seeing as we got absolutely washed out with rain a couple of days ago in Scotland. Mix in NYE/today and I can finally give them the benefit of the doubt for the first time ever...

Some websites still using the covid excuse as a reason.

A recent Evri parcel i had was delayed straight after it was delivered according to my emails. I can't work that one out as surely once the person clicks delivered the job is closed?

A possible explanation is that their system only allows employees to choose the reason for delay from a list. If the real reason isn't on the list, the only thing the employee can do is give a false reason.

I had a few things "delayed due to a major event" about a month ago. Took about 2 weeks for them to eventually arrive, and with a new person as the courier who said he was helping from another county.

I think the previous one either got sacked, quit or died.

Did you really expect a budget courier to deliver on New Year’s Eve which is also a Saturday?

The race to the bottom for lower courier prices results in stuff like this - but in all honesty I can’t really see the issue.
It’s New Year, a crap time for deliveries (and always has been)
